  • Winner-As I tried to say in post 207, we are talking different matters here.
Your implication seems to be that the other countries should simply be grateful that we are helping them-in short, shut up,take the whole package or nothing at all.
To change the subject slightly, should I as an American citizen be happy and not criticize Bush and or the US simply because I live a pretty confortable life?
Or in sports should a team be happy and content because it is playing 500 ball?
There is always room for improvement and from my perspective anyways there is PLENTY of room for improvement in the way in which this nation conducts itself in foreign affairs, namely of late in Iraq and probably soon in Iran.

No, I think everyone has the right to disagree, and in America (unlike other countries we subsidize) , to voice that disagreement. But I wanted to point out the hypocrisy of the countries with one hand in our pockets and the other hand flipping us the bird. If you think that's right, that's fine. I don't. And they don't have to agree with our policies, but they sure as hell should be doing something other then "laughing" and "disrespecting".

If you had a child who got an A in math but a D in reading, should you be satisfied with the A and/or should you be concerned and try to improve the grade in reading?
Sure this is politics, but to me it is the whole package that has to be considered and not only part.

          .
No, but the Monday morning second guessers cry and whine too much too. Hindsight is 20/20. Instead of just bitching and moaning about a problem and second-guessing everything, maybe some sleeves should be rolled up and a solution pitched. Easy to say a pitcher should have been yanked AFTER giving up the game-losing homerun.

Well if all I heard about was the D in reading, and RARELY if EVER heard about the A, I'm not sure what I would do.

              Hmm-I see your point.
I think in all honesty that we have different perspectives about how to view events-perhaps I am of the "half-empty" philosophy and you of the "half-full" type at least when it involves some matters.
At the very least, I do enjoy reading intelligent and well thought out points of views such as yours, and believe me I don't know or purport everything in my search for the truth about various matters.

              • And if you read my posts, NOWHERE does it read that I think Bush is doing a wonderful job. I truly do think he is very stubborn and doesn't adjust quickly if at all. Everyone can go back and forth on the war, but I think that it was more then one person who voted for based on the same intel. Now whether or not that intel was doctored, who knows. But it does amaze me when people think all of this(war, gas, immigration, etc) is happening b/c of one person or b/c of one party. It's so much bigger then that. And there are no easy answers. But I would want to support someone who has what they think are the answers. To me it's MUCH better then doing nothing, sitting back and criticizing, and offering no solutions yourself. In the grand scheme of things, it's politicians looking out for themselves, their friends, and especially their wallets. And that's regardless of party.

                • I can't argue with much of what you say although I do think it is possible to say judge Bush's performance in office without necessarily having an immediate solution to everything. Who can say what another president would have done under similar circumstances? Who can say what would have happened had Grady Little taken out Pedro in time in game 7 against the Yanks in 2003?
