1000 Days. That's how many days are left in the Bush presidency.

In the last few days Vice President Al Gore and DCCC Chairman Rahm Emanuel have written to you asking for your support of our "1000 Days Campaign." Your response has been overwhelming. We met our goal of $150,000 thanks to Democrats from across America rising to the challenge and supporting our campaign at unprecedented levels.

But, right now, I am more interested in another number -- 194 days. 194 days until voters go to the polls in the congressional mid-term elections and are given the chance to stop the Bush agenda cold and restore accountability to our government by electing a new Democratic Majority to the U.S. House of Representatives.

It's clear that Democrats have the momentum going into the 2nd quarter. The American people are fed up with the incompetence, corruption and willful negligence of the Republican Party. They are responding to our message for change and accountability by supporting our candidates at historic levels.

In more than a dozen races, Democratic challengers have raised more money in the first quarter than Republican incumbents. And, in no case does a Democratic Member of Congress have less money on hand than their Republican challenger. In open seats, Democratic candidates dominated the first quarter fundraising period.

This spring, the financial support from grassroots Democrats has been extraordinary. Thanks to you, the DCCC has broken all fundraising records and the days of being buried under an avalanche of Republican special interest money are behind us. For the first time in our history we are going toe-to-toe with the fundraising of the Republican Party.

You can be certain that Republicans are going to shake down all their special interest campaign contributors to try and buy their majority. Now, with the decision to put Karl Rove back in charge of their campaign, the vicious, personal assaults and divide and conquer tactics of their past campaigns will be deployed for full effect.

The outcome of the 2006 election will determine the kind of country we live in not just for the next two years, but for a generation to come. Democrats are campaigning on the values and ideals that unite our country, rather than the issues that divide it.

With a Democratic majority in Congress we will be able to work for the American people, not at their expense. We will make energy independence a national priority, while acting to protect our environment and our natural heritage. We will reform the confusing Republican health care plan written for and by the big drug and insurance companies and focus on providing affordable, accessible health care to America's families. We will demand a strategy for success in Iraq. And we will hold all branches of our government accountable in a bipartisan manner.

Thank you for helping us keep our momentum and keep the Republicans on the defensive.

Together, we will win a Democratic majority and take America in a new direction.

is bush a bright man???? that is hard to say....i do not know him personally, but i assure you he is brighter than the media makes him out to be...He is a yale grad and has fooled millions of people if he is not bright.....none of us know him intimately, but i do not think he is not bright.......

now, as a leader i do not think he is flexible enough and is playing cowboy in a new world.....I also think that he relies too much on religion to make his decisions......I appreciate the fact that he is a leader that will see things through......I also believe that he cow-tows to too many lobbysits and has lost touch with the average man......

i voted for him....am not pleased with the job he has done...but he is leading in one of the most difficult times in history....but i am glad kerry did not get elected.....

I'm referring to me making a point about Bush and his nepotism and his penchant for incompetent leadership then having nobody address it fully without talking about Michael Moore or some other "liberal". Michael Moore is not our President. He can say and do whatever he wants. However, it is our duty in a democratic society to hold our leaders accountable. And I feel that a lot of people are not doing that with Bush. It's one excuse after the other. Blaming somebody else for his lack of foresight. Believe me. It's not "liberal" to question authority and the presidency. In fact, it is truly American. It is one of the founding premises of the country. Power and responsibility need to be accountable to the People. Plain and simple. I can go on for pages and pages.

It is amazing how he even got into Yale let alone graduated-then again money and who your daddy is help a lot.
On the other hand, ,if some great athletes with an iq just slightly of that of a moron can be "pushed" through college, I suppose GW could have been also.
Just listen to him speak sometime;he is bad enough when he his fed his lines;without the lines and left to fend for himself at news conferences, etc., his lack of intellect shows and his stumbling and fumbling for words is an embarrassment and shows he can't think on his feet(can't think sitting down either as we saw when he continued ro read to school children immediately after the US was attacked).
I personally shake my head increduously when I see this guy on tv and am amazed that this guy is actually holding the position of the most powerful and important job in the world! Is this the best we can do?????

Even if you do not agree with Nancy Pelosi, listen to her speak, be aware of her thought processes and reasoning and compare it to that (or lack thereof) with Bush;there is no comparison in my opinion.
I view intelligence, ability to think independently, a sense of history, intellectual curiosity and reading and many other things important qualites for a president of the US;Bush sadly lacks in just about everything;then again I view him more of a puppet for big business interests anyways. thus maybe for those who think he is a good president the qualities I mentioned are not so importannt afterall.
