Police: NBA Star Caught On Camera Shoplifting In Miami Beach
Juwan Howard Not Yet Charged In Alleged Theft

    POSTED: 3:21 pm EDT May 11, 2006

MIAMI BEACH Fla. -- Police say that an NBA player who made nearly $6 million last year was caught on a surveillance camera stealing a pair of sunglasses from a Miami Beach store.

Juwan Howard, who plays for the Houston Rockets, was shopping at Eye Q on Ocean Drive in Miami Beach over the weekend. The store clerk said that when his back was turned, Howard took a pair of $1,600 Cartier sunglasses.

Miami Beach police said that when they reviewed the surveillance tape, Howard could be seen pocketing the sunglasses when the clerk's eyes were averted.

Howard, who owns two South Florida homes, one on Brickell Avenue and one on Old Cutler Road, was paid more than $5.9 million during the past season, according to the NBA. His career contracts since 1994 total more than $100 million.

Howard has not yet been charged in the incident.

    Greedy son of a bitch!!

Anyone else would do jail time for that ... He should too.

Typical Michigan offender. Hang by the neck until dead.
Circumstances do not make the man; they reveal him.

This is a great example which strengthens my argument against the contention that an NBA player of any other professional athlete would NEVER try to help fix a sporting event because they already make millions and the risk/reward ratio would be too great.
As I have always set, the mindset of some athletes isn't the same as yours or mine.
As in the case here of a player here, it would seem that the thrill for some players of trying to get away with something illegal(trying to play a part in the ATS outcome) would override ANY consideration of how much they earn a year or what their net worth is.
Believe some of these guys were raised in the ghettos, have a crime/street mentality and would perceive anything illegal as a challenge and a type of fun-sad but true.

            True that.
