What's crazy to me is, steriods has proven that it actually destroys the longivity of a players career, so it's almost more impressive to me that Bonds did roids and is still able to play and possibly break the record. If Ripken did roids he wouldn't have played so many games. Steriods helped Bonds hit more homeruns, no doubt, but does anyone really believe that there's another person on this planet that could hit 73 homers in 300 ab's using steriods?

i want bonds to beat Aaron's record. That way that fraud empty suit Uncle Bud Selig can be the commish that let the biggest record get taken down WWF style.

Are you kidding? He stated last year he wants to break Ruth's record then he's done.

That's not actually true as it depends on if you're using a Dr. to check your blood on a regular basis to make sure that you're not having any problems from the roids. Look at Lyle Alzedo (spelling) guy used steroids his whole NFL career then when he died he was skin and bones.

But in 1992, seven years after playing in his last regular-season game, Alzado died from brain lymphoma, a rare form of cancer. He was 43. Although there is no medical link between steroids and brain lymphoma, Alzado was certain the drugs were responsible for his cancer. He became a symbol of the dangers of steroid abuse. (from ESPN)

I don't think that there was a link between his brain cancer and steroids. Just my non-medical opinion (like everyone else on here speculating) b/c then everyone who's used steroids would get brain cancer. He would have had the brain cancer regardless. Now it might have accelerated, who knows, but not caused.

No question here about the man's ability, but I believe the injuries he has been sustaining these last few years comes as the results of steroid use. His frame is not "designed" for the extra body weight incorperated from the steroid use. Also muscle tears, pulled muscles, and damaged connective tissues may also be indicative of the 'roid use.

I think the guys at best a 40 - 45 home run a year guy. (Before '01 his best was 49 and that was in 2000). And that includes playing in these smaller fields (where they are built with certain players in mind) and higher altitudes. There is also no doubt he may swing the fastest bat in the game. Now incorperate the bat speed with the strength to swing a heavier bat and bam 73.

So back to the original post Cory Lidle was correct........and he will NEVER win a World Series. ( I had to add that )

There are a lot of people that die from taking steroids and have numerous health problems. I highly doubt Lyle was looked after by a Dr. while doing steroids as where today's players are.

                      And that makes it OK?

It's further proof of the greatest of Ruth's and Marris' records. Yeah both Ruth and Marris would have surpassed 73 homers with juice. As would have Mantle and a few others.

Who would you put on a list of dead people that died "directly" from steroid usage? And not teenagers with emotional problems who kill themselves from withdrawal, as I believe that theory can be applied to any drug. And my comment was about the link (or more the lack of) between brain cancer and steroids.

Bill Romanowski attributes his health problems to the use of steroids.
