I drive a SUV, spend $65 on a fillup, but you want to know what i can do about it. Nothing....It's all these newscasters just making everyone else mad against those oil companies, we sure don't harp at those health care costs, microsoft, airlines industries who are losing billions, but they are still flying, and always will. It is what it is, and just read the paper and laugh, it's really the only thing you can do. Exxon 8.4 billion...amazing, but what can i do about it, nothing, keep driving and letting my vehicle drink that gas
Hey te14, see no argument, mind your business unless you percieve me to be attacking you. He's the smart one and i was DEAD RIGHT with my statement about him having oil interest.
Congrats to you tower for sound financial decisions, but i still dont like oil companies. And as an American TE, we all have the right to bitch. Peace to the both of you, your both obviously better with a dollar than i am

      Hey JC~

You are totally dead right with you statement, i just think there are things that we can't do anything about. We can do a lot of diffenet things to make prices go down, but with any war talk with Iran, prices will always be on the rise. And damn right you have the right to bitch, i just know that everyone has an extra $ or 2, and there are many ways to save money, but with all this news talk and now the senate is getting involved, it just pisses more people off, and there is nothing else to bitch about. Do i think it's high, damn right, but also everything i purchase is high, whether it's water for $1, a shot of whyskey in NY $15, coffee for $3 or a round of golf $70, but i know that there are so many other areas then just listening to news and bitching about one thing that really isn't that crazy considering what they do (drilling, research, middle of ocean rigs just sitting there etc) comapaired to so many other companies that repeat the same product without doing anything and making millions!!! Oil is a weird but crazy business, but one positive is that E85 corn oil, it's .60 cheaper and i love every minute of it....Love the talk JC

Uh, let me see..... maybe because you are in a forum where anyone can reply to your post.

Point taken- wasn't trying to start an argument. This issue just gets me going I guess.

Yeah, i realize anyone can respond to any statement, but i specifically addressed watchtowers comment, not yours. Yes you can respond as i cant stop you, but my point is, he doesnt need your defense, or you making a statement that this starts arguments. My point was correct, i didnt bash him at all. From what he said it was obvious to me that this was a guy who has vested money in oil, that is why i made my statement.
I wont argue with you, because what's the point. I personally think that you, Watchtower, myself and everyone else who states a bitch in this thread is correct in their own way. So

JC- I said I got the point. I jumped a little too early on this one and misunderstood the point you were making.

The companies can and will. If you could up your product because supply and demand then more power to ya. Its' just everyday life that comes and goes with time. If you would have invested in those oil/natrual gas companies in the past year, you could have free gas for years, on there behalf, instead of getting pissed, invest in those companies and you laugh at them just making more money, and yourself.
How about all the people that invested not only their retirement funds but their life into working for Enron? Tell them how investing worked out...while the boss man walked out with 400 million in severance...

It is a different arguement but I was pointing out that while it's true we may have to live with high gas prices and can't do anything about the profits...we CAN put crooked CEO's and oil executives in jail...with leadership that doesn't have a vested interest in, you know, the oil business!

Well if you say that, well then how about the people who bought JNPR at $200 one time, VRSN at $200, CSCO at $80, NWAC bankrupt, VTSS in over $100 etc the list can go on and on and on. Enron was a diffenent situation, i even had some shares in that company and lost a lot of my cash in that company but i am not going to sit here and bitch about something that i can't control, all those workers are sitting fine, if you do some research on enron employees, the electricity business/oil/gas business has been flying high since then, jobs are everywhere i.e www.powermarketers.com, it's just like the airlines business, look at AMR in the airline industry, look at DUK, XEL, TXU 4 years ago after Enron....everything is a sharp sell off in the news and then it's a great buying opportunity....Stocks are my life and i am not even a brooker or a stupid brainwashed financial advisor.

So what your saying is bill gates worth 51 billion dollars, i will be shocked to hear you say yes...Or how about Larry Ellison (ORCL) who is made $45 million dollars with his stock not moving anywhere in the past 5 years and his net worth is 17+ billion dollars.....humm and that's in the software business...that makes me scratch my head

So why does Montana have cheaper gas when they have to transport the gas in the mountain areas, but then in Cali and NY are the most expensive but then they live next to the ocean....And congress is worried about what the CEO makes, maybe they should pay attention to there own state and make it easier on there own citizens

It's called supply and demand i know, but Exxon and Conoco aren't setting the prices saying " I want Montana to have $2.50 for a gallon but then humm lets have NYC and all of Cali $4+ .......makes me think

reason that montana has lower gas prices than cali and NY is because NY/cali the tax on fuel is so damn high. I'm sure gas in kansas is lower than gas prices in NY. Location is irrelivent. State tax on fuel in NY/cali is among the highest in the nation. Each state decides what taxes to add to fuel on a state by state basis. Also you must factor in the Cost of living index as well. people in states such as montana make less average salary than in states such as cali/ny for the exact same jobs.

OK then the price of $4 gas in your state is not Exxon or Conoco's fault even if they are making billions..it's the price of the state's tax which has NOTHING TO DO WITH what your paying that is all i am saying. you can have a nation wide $2.50 if each state wanted that, but each state is different..
