Democracy only last as long as it takes for the people to realize they can vote themselves "gifts", and then its worthless. Whoever promises them more, they vote for.

The funny thing is... there are actually people out there that believe the U.S. will never fall.... LMAO (we're gonna last forever)!!!

Hey it may not happen in our lifetime, but all of the signs are pointing that way right now.

                • To understand why oil costs +/- $75 a barrell you need to pull up a long term monthly chart of oil. You will notice that there are 2 spikes down in price, one just before Desert Storm and the 2nd just before this war. In Desert Storm Saddam had signed a cease fire with Iran and was re-building Iraq by pumping massive ammounts of oil, he was asked to cut production but refused, then Bush #1 sent him a message through Glasby that it was OK to invade Kuwait.....we know the rest of the story.
Oil shot up and sanctions worked for a while but Saddam figured a way around it. By 2001 the world was awash in oil and the pumping of Iraqs oil had to be stopped again. This gave us the present war in Iraq.
Folks! We invaded Iraq to stop the flow of oil and if you disagree then please explain why Iraq was forced to join OPEC, by our US government, prior to our returning the oil. wells to Iraqui control. Their joining OPEC puts Saudi Arabia etc. in control of how much oil Iraq can pump....think about that for a while folks, the group that gave us the oil blockade are now deciding how much oil Iraq can pump.
We got Screwed, the war was about driving up the price of oil and you can expect it to hit $5 a gallon before Bush leaves office.
The oil in Alaska is not going to solve our problems, it wouldn't even if it was pumping now. The oil will go to other nations and they will divert oil they have purchased to the US. The total oil in Alaska will not solve 1% of our needs.
Alternative fuel is the only logical answer. We were able to build the atom bomb in a short period of time, put a man on the moon in a short period of time and if we elect a President and congress who are not controlled by major oil companys we can do it again but first we must rise up and fight a government that is selling us down the river.
Its your call, do you go to the polls this November and re-elect those who vote against your best interests or do you say "time for change"
For too long "Party loyalty" has come in the way of common sense

Some say we never put a man on the moon. And if we did (which I believe) why haven't we been able to do it again?

Really? I thought we been putting on the moon constantly. But what will putting man on the moon accomplish? Maybe they'll find an oil reserve in the moon. But how will they bring the oil back to earth? Need my pills brb.

Yes! We put a man on the moon and if we had failed the Pentagon had plans to attack Cuba for radio frequency interference. Kennedy had shot down "Opperation Northwoods" and they had all the evidence fixed to show Cuba interfered but it went off without a hitch. We could do it again if we wanted to but there is really nothing there that interests us, just barren waste.
I'd like to comment on tax cuts and deficits.

Our debt is a very serious problem, every man, woman and child in this Country owes $30,000.00 and its a debt we can't walk away from without destroying the US credit rating. Never in history have we owed this high a % of GDP.
As long as people keep voting for those politicians who push tax cuts as a means to get re-elected it will continue. Our middle class is virtually wiped out but people refuse to believe it,
In 1900 Argentina was the 2nd richest Country on earth, ahead of the USA and just behind Great Britain (UK)..
What happened?...exactly whats happening here. I fear for our future unless a lot of voters wake up to reality and very, very soon.
