I fucken busted my ass in college, not going out, staying up all night just fucking studying my ass off to get to where I am. I know people who dropped out of high school making fuckin 20k a yr and complaining that the gov't aint doing shit to help them. FUCK THAT!!!
I wasn't born here - I became a citizen last year (thank you, hold your applause). I was always told, that especially in America, if you work hard, you'll can do anything. My dad fucken worked 12 hours a day waking up at 3 a.m. so he can put me and my brother through college. My mom worked 6 days a week pulling 10 hours on saturdays. And I hear people complaining about how the gov't is supposed lend them a hand or isn't doing anything? The gov't is not your mom or dad. They dont give people allowances. Not once did I hear my parents say anything about the gov't. And I know they worked harder than 80% of these fuckers complaining.

What people lack now is strong work ethics. Complaining about I didnt get the job cause of this and that. Move the fuck on!! Start scrubbing toliets and move to managment. Dont think that you should be a CEO of a company because you think you "deserve" it. You and I dont deserve shit. We got to earn it.

I'm 25. I graduated with double major - Information Systems and Economics from University of Maryland (got a free ride - scholarship). Thinking about applying for a MBA program at either U penn, Berkley, or Georgetown.

Yes, my dad never made a scene about how shitty his job was. He just said, shut your mouth, do your work. If I HAVE to work his shitty job, I would have to do it. But no, I do not work the hours that he worked. I work about 9 hours a day and maybe couple hours on the weekend if need be. But I sit in front of a computer in a nice air conditioned office. No way near the harsh environment my dad was in. He made my brother and I do the most ridiculous things around the house to show the value of hard work and what our life will entail if we decide not to get educated.

My dad, my bro, and I built a deck and I was responsible for mixing the concrete at the age of 9. And I'm not talking about rip the bag and dump it in the concrete mixing machine. Hell no, that was too easy. I had to do that shit manually. He didnt want to get the concrete mixing machine b/c he wanted to teach me and my brother about hard work - I will never forget this. The damn bag weighed 50 pounds. My brother was 6 and he was in charge of keeping all us hydrated and keeping the work area clean. That was the hottest summer, ever! But my brother and I never made a peep about the weather or the work. We knew better. With that in mind who wouldnt want to go to school

My goal is make enough money so my parents can retire as soon as possible. I give them 1000 a month but its not enough - its enough for my mom to stop working on saturdays. When I brother graduates, he too will help my parents and hopefully by then my mom can stop working and my dad can work part -time. To keep this story short, lets just say my parents had bad fianical advisors (my cousins sucked my parents money dry)

People need to learn to put their pride aside and work at McDonalds, or where ever. If the job doesn't pay enough, get a second job. I went to school full time and held a 30 hours a week job still maintaing my GPA. It sucked but it had to be done. People just need to 'Get R Done'

Please explain how the UAE was taking over "security" at the ports. That's very "stoopid" as port security is the job of the Coast Guard and local police. I think it was "stoopid" on Bush's part to not think there would be a backlash with this announced deal, but security wasn't being turned over to the UAE.

WOW, this is an interesting thread...

First, the boycott thing has been proved time and time again to be false, look it up at snopes.com (http://www.snopes.com/politics/gasoline/gasout.asp http://www.snopes.com/politics/gasoline/gasprices.asp). If you wacko libby lous would spend as much time surfing for actual facts instead of anti-Bush talking points you would be MUCH better off.

Second, in my opinion a great deal of the oil issues stems from environmental nuts telling us to save Alaska. Alaska (~ 0.6 million people), is the largest state in the US, but has a much smaller population than even Rhode Island (~1.04 million) and most of Alaska is "protected" from oil drilling. National studies have shown that there is plenty of oil there. I think we should start putting in place the ability to drill there NOW! I do care about the environment, but there is someplace where you have to accept the fact that we are the evolved species, not polar bears, penguins, and other animals. It's time we started acting like it. Drill away!!!

Third, if you are ignorant enough to believe all of the issues this country has right now is Bush's fault, I am sorry, you can't fix stupid.

Like I said before mother nature is giving back as we've been taking for too long. The alternative is not to drill in Alaska, but to find a better alternative to gas. Now with the gas companies having people like Bush in their back pocket I wonder if that will happen.

I'm down with ya on this one BC...can't believe I forgot to mention the "why doesn't Bush send the twins" thing...and is it really so hard to look at this on the surface...Bush Family = Oil Business...Iraq = Lots of oil....Bush sacks Iraq.
