After the 1993 oil embargo,Brazil started energy plan to reduce its dependency on oil.Today Brazil is self sufficient on oil by developing ethanol as their energy fuel. They are the world leader in production of ethanol. Why does the United States not have a energy plan to eliminate dependency on oil?

I heard that the other day. My question is how much are they paying per U.S. gallon. Kinda of hard to know how great that is without being able to compare cost. Good point John

I don't know the year car makers started making engines that can run on gas or ethanol, but they call them flex fuel engines.I believe GM has a few models now on the market in the U.S.

Problems everywhere. Savage knows my political beliefs and we have agreed to disagree. For that reason, I don't want to get in an argument about the president. But I'll tell you this: People like myself are in a terrible situation. I could NEVER vote for the democratic party again as I am as far from liberal as you can be. At the same time, the Republicans that have run the Congress have governed in the exact same way Democrats did for 40 years....more spending and bigger government. Where do I turn? Sadly, I wind up having to vote on the lesser of 2 evils which still leaves me voting Republican. Nothing to write home about for sure.

As a start, why is it not manadatory that all cars be made to be fuel efficient like my Honda Insight?
The answer is easy-it is political and a lot has to do with the big greedy oil companies and their obsession for big profits.(for my money at least one of the big reasons we are still in Iraq).

Seriously considering it. As you know, the problem is getting enough people to get on the ballets, etc. Can you get a Libertarian elected? Not yet. But I can't keep doing this much longer.

how do you bring down gas prices ? GAS WAR . there is a e-mail floating around the internet about this subject. which i happen to agree with . it say's that nobody should buy gas from ( either the top 1 or 2 ) gas maker's or seller's ( don't remember ) i think it was mobil in the e-mail , what ever .if we can get people to stop buying there gas , it would cause them to lower there price & create a gas war . the problem with that is , when we need gas we stop & get it with out even thinking of who made it . i don't think people will do this , but if you think about it , it just might work .

Simple $$ from the gas companies to their campaigns.

Did you see the above on Amazing Race? That's were I seen it at and thought it was a good idea. I believe it was sugar canes striped through a machine then mixed with something to fuel the cars.

The price of gas is going up simply, because the gas companies are allowed to raise the price. They were caught price gouging last year when they made the biggest profits that they ever made. What has our Government did about this?

now if we can get about 3 or 4 million people to do it, ya got a little gas war going . but like i said before , we need gas we stop & get it because it's easy . if we would think before we purchase , we might get that 3 or 4 million people we need to make a dent in these greedy SOB'S pocket's . oh that's right , nothing will be able to put a dent into those pocket's .
