1st off, Very congratulations on your new wife, I wish you both the greatest and long happiness.

Now, I was wondering if you can help me.

If need be please get my email from spark if you can, I used to have yours be4 I went on my 2 year absent.

    But anyway.

We (my girlfriend and I, actually more her) are looking to buy a house. We have to be out of our apartment by June 1st (We don't really have to, but our rent went up again and refuse to pay the amount he wants considering we over pay anyway now)

I was hoping you knew of a good realitor in town if u got a friend, or if better, someone selling a good house.
We are looking for a 3 bed room for around $150,000. If it needs minor repairs no problem, if we have to we will settle for a 2 bedroom.

Thanks, for any help you can give, we are almost clueless since we have never looked before.

We'll have to get together for a beer sometime. We go to the Dugout on Friday nights (usually get there after 11pm because of work), probably won't be there tomorrow night though (of course we say that every thursday till we get out of work and it's the only place open serving food). 1st 2 rounds on me.
    Good Luck to everyone
    Adam

    Hi Adam,
I wish I could be of more help in your question.
Having lived in my own home for over 12 1/2 years, I have sort of lost touch with the local real estate market.
I would call the major real estate agencies in town(can't recommend anyone specific, as I simply don't know), check the newspapers and call the Multiple Listing Service.
I know when my first wife and I found our home, we simply used a real estate agency(I believe it was 20th Century) and went from house to house until we found what we awere looking for.
The real estate agent's name was/is Beverly Lazzara Martin, and she stillsends me a calendar every year. She is now with Caldwell Banker(don't know this is the same as 20th Century). Anyways, the phone number of the firm is (if this is not permitted on this forum, please delete) 5936069.
If you call, tell her Paul(don't want to give my last name here) sent you. If she doesn't remember(I am sure she will), tell her my first wife's name(Joy, who is from the Philippines ) and Montclair St(my stret).
I hope above helps a little.
PS Re: meeting for beer, some day after my new wife has adjusted, I might be interested, although I must tell you I am not a drinker and would be satisfied with cokes or maybe a screwdriver. lol

      Thanks Savage,

My girlfriend actually got a hold of someone from Coldwell banker today (before I saw this), she already has 5 houses lined up for tomorrow, they look pretty good too considering how fast she worked.

I am just in a rush to move I hate our "condo" (they call it a condo but it was called apartments when we moved in). this is far from a condo.

I hope everything is going good. Enjoy your new life.
      Good Luck to everyone

Adam-I lived at Doverbrook for 10 years before buying my house. I actually liked living in my condo there, but it was just too small (after I married my first wife).

We hate our "condo" we want to be away from our neighbors. Plus it is too small. I wouldn't mind a real condo (which this is not), but I think we are looking at a few good houses. We added $10K to our price we are looking at b/c $150K houses suck around here $160 looks better.

We are gonna be looking at one tomorrow on Valier Ave over past the Cemetary that's off Mckinstry.

From the picks online it looks really nice and I hope it is so we can make an offer on it tomorrow. We fell in love with it as soon as we saw it.

I heard that some of the houses over there near the cemetery are haunted. If so,maybe you or one of the spirits can contact the deceased Mike Lee or Jimmy the Greek to give you some can't miss locks from the Hereafter,
Seriously, best of luck with your househunting;as was the case with my first wife, you will know when you find the right one.

160k for a house...holy crap. I live in MD and the shittest townhouse is 300k - no joke. You can visit HUD homes for PG county (ghetto vill) and it still cost 250k. Wow.

Living in New England outside of the big metropolitan areas does offer a few advantages like the price of real estate. On the other hand, the weather truly sucks from November until late April(too cold).

We got our house, (I know it was quick). We looked at 7 houses ALLLLL CRAP. The 8th was nice, (the one mentioned above). The 9th, we steped in and was like "this is the one"

I can't believe the deal we are getting. I believe the people are getting devorced and want to unload. They tried selling it last fall, but couldn't because it needed a new roof. And since then they got it and lowered the asking price by $7K.

It's a 3 bedroom, has 2 living rooms (one formal, one casual), 2 dining rooms (one formal, one casual). Nice size kitchen and good sized backyard. The basment is completely finished and about the size of a large studio apartment. A fireplace in between the formal living room and dining room.
It's only a ranch but it is huge.

The only downside is that it isn't in the town we wanted to live in (chicopee).
Sorry Savage, we are moving to Springfield (East Forest Park), Way up top farther than Sumner goes were Allen street Splits into 2 one way drives with an island in the middle. We are on a street on the side heading back toward I91. Almost 16 acres.

This House is the biggest I ever lived in and I thought my Dad's house was big. 1500 sq feet living space (and I believe that doesn't include the basement. Got it for $160K (worth $170 and would probably be about $180 in Chicopee)

What savage says is true, around here is cheaper, but if you go out a little farther north from here your talking $250+ (E. Hamton, Munson, Deerfield). Or Longmeadow which is close (but real rich). Over the border in CT in Enfield or suffield (where I work) is up there. We would have liked there but wayy to much. Rents are $1000 plus.

Weather SUCKS ASS, but I am stuck for at least 14 more years (till my daughter turns 18).

Closing Date is May 1st (Monday be4 the Kentucky Derby)
What sucks is that I have to cut my Gambling expenses, or start winning more.
                        Good Luck to everyone

damn people yall need to move out of those high inflated cities and come down south where you can buy a 2100 sq. ft house for 130K. no lie, just sold an 1900 sq ft. for 127k bought a new one for 132k, 2300sq ft.

yea, cost of living might go down a little bit for ya but hell thats a cheap, 2 story house right there for ya...

Yeah, but what would my pay be, I am sure my pay would replect that. Now if I could have my income that I have here and move there, that would be nice.

Adam-Congrats-it sounds like you hit the jackpot. It sounds like you and your girlfriend and mother went through the same thing we did-look at a number of so-so houses and then see one which hits you a certain way.
What you say is so true about location even in our area(location, location, location as your local real estate agency would say);Chicopee's loss is Springfield's gain.
                              Best of luck!
