So sad to hear about your dog Tony, your poor dog did nothing wrong, and couldn't protect itself. That's the sad part. Please keep me updated on the recovery, i know you must be going through hell right now. I can't even imagine if that happened to Jaden. I would've shot that dog.
i am not 100% sure it is all bull mastiff....some pics looked like it on the website, others not so much.....i can assure you it was vicious and there was no sniffing whatsoever....just blindisded my dog like a lion kills a caribou on wild kingdom....not to brag, but i am a tough sob, and i had the fight of my life.....i had my legs wrapped on its legs and had a rear choke on its collar until it lost strength and cut its oxygen....i hit it with my walking stick 4 times and it did nothing....i must have dropped 10-12 bombs on it and my knuckles are bruised from it, also elbows...you name it....could not shake it until i cut its oxygen off.....I would have love to have shot it but it was just me and him and my dog screaming bloody murder while this was locked on her chest...it was surreal and every second counted and there was no time to think or gather weapons......i am very lucky since i have my sweat jacket filled with tears from the dog lunging at me.....the doc said thank god she was a little chunky or her heart would have been bitten....i could see into her rib cage and the muscles torn off it....she took over 300-400stitiches...doc said she stopped counting.....a 12 x 12 inch scar on her side and a 9 inch on her neck...she has 2 drains.....

i have contacted animal control and they (the dogs owners) have agreed to pay..but it ain;t enough....who is next....do i need a gun to walk my dog in the state forest??? anyways, i know alot of you guys are animal lovers (as am i), that is why i posted.....I believe there are no bad animals, just badly trained animals.....

i am out of work for a week...my knee is the size of a football, neck is hurt and my thumbs are black from torquing its collar.....it is much harder to fight a dog than a man.....too quick, strong and nothing to grab onto.....

hopefully she will be out of the hospital this week sometime.....thanks for the thoughts...

watchtower...thanks....every breed owner wll stand up for its breed....even pitbulls and i know some nice staffordshire terriers that are great dogs....it is simply the owners and how they choose to train them,....my dog is trained to love people, let kids tug on her and is playful....just a kind old soul.....breaks my heart when i replay her screams in my mind....

Damn Tony, I feel bad for you, but you'll heal in a few days, I'm just hoping your dog will be able to fully recover and she'll be the same kind dog she once was.

Did you talk to the owner of the dog?

Damn Tony...being a dog lover I would have done the same. I would never hurt an animal...but sometimes you gotta. A few years ago while walking my son in his stroller a few kids thought it was funny to let their pitbull loose...and he came barrelling across the parking lot at us...my huskey terrier mix took a bite out of his snout....sometimes dogs just snap. I blame the owners for ANY uncontrollable animal. A buddy of mine has a mastiff....biggest baby there is....his son pulls, and pokes, and bites...nothing out of the dog. But those dogs are incredibally strong...a hell of a lot stronger than people...you are lucky to control the dog. I hope the best for your dog.
Best wishes for the both of you.

i will get a 100% breed distinction before i bash the bull-mastiff anymore.....i had never seen one and after the attack i went on the internet and found what looked like it, but then saw other photos that looked slightly different.....so as to not upset anyone who owns one i will refrain from that charge until 100% certain.....i will see her papers in a few days for shots and it will have the breed on there...thanks....actually the attack happenend in CT...i am back from florida for awhile and have been up at my lake house on the massachusetts border

It happened up here in CT?? Animal control should instantly take control of the dog untill this is resolved. The dog almost killed yours...and would have you if it had the chance!! That is freakin scary...walking through the woods...all the beautiful colors this time of year, and then that. I feel bad for you brother...and hope all works out for you. I live up here but down on the shore...best of both worlds...water and leaves..

                        TTT,

sorry to hear about your dog man. I cant speak for you but my choc lab Guinness is like a child to me. I dont know if i would have taken this the way you did. I commend you for that. I prolly would have axed or shot the dog for attacking my dog like that. I sure hope they make the guy who owns that dog pay for all your medical bills. That will be the only way he(dogs owner will learn) IMO the guy must not care enough about the dog cause i know someone who has a bull mastiff and its a friendly smart dog. To me the dogs owner should pay. GL and i hope your dog recovers.

10 dime...i would loved to have axed him or shot him, but i was on a leisurely jog and usually do not carry weapons with me (ha ha)....all i had was my walking stick and he had her chest and jugular and once their jaws lock they just shake their heads and tear....so i had no time to gather weapons...i am 5'10" and about 207 with under 10% body fat (built like tie domi) and this dog if i did not submit it it would have turned on me..and i would have lost no doubt...so in a way i was very lucky as well....i just thank God i had my strength and fighting backround.....in fact i looked at my jacket today and the front is shredded in a few spots...i can assure you i did what i could and i still almost lost her...if you are interested i can e-mail photos from the vet that show her neck and chest wounds after suture....but they look much worse today....and yes....she is like a child to me...she has never been caged, goes to work with me everyday for 10 years and she is a gentle soul....

Bud is right. In Texas the dog's owner is resposible but money is hard to get unless he has liability on his homeowners policy. You might get lucky if he also has a large umbrella policy. One problem is, many insurers today refuse to issue liability if they have a dog such as the one you described.

Animal control will probably file charges and the dog will be declared vicious and dangerous requiring special rules and insurances or else the dog will be help and probably put to sleep.

thanks bud....in CT she is responsible for all vet bills and my medical bills at a minimum...she has already told the police she intedns to pay without a fight...she filed a claim that i threatened to kill her today which is false...i claimed to kill their dog if my dog died.......i am seeing my attorney tomorrow to see what other actions can be taken....i am not interested in money, but i want that dog destroyed so this does not happen to a kid or someone elses pet...you should not have to be afraid to walk your dog...
