Again, thank you all for your well wishes. Power, phone, and internet very spotty so I haven't been able to get back on until now. Gotta hurry and run back to cleaning up and helping at shelter so I don't have time to post my personal pictures. I am giving you a link to the Gulfport PD temp website that has some selected "official" PD photos. There are many many places that are worse even than these, but the PD just doesn't want them on their website.
The link is www.Gulfportpd.com. Click on the photos button. FYI, you will see a series of photos that begin with the outside of the Grand Casino....The following are inside what used to be the casino. I'm sure many of you have actually played and partied in this building. The power of the storm was truly awesome. The spirit here is becoming more upbeat and optimistic. The slogan being heard more and more often is "Camille didn't finish us and neither will Katrina. THE COAST WILL RETURN"
One more heroic and sad story. The City of Waveland...some 25 miles west of Biloxi had 24 police officers and firefighters, six councilmen, and one mayor. EVERY ONE of these people were in the water swimming during the height ofthe storm. Praise God, none of them were lost, although a few do have family members still missing. Pray for them. Every one of these brave souls was on the street Tuesday morning searching, helping, and saving lives. All six of Waveland's police crusiers, all five of their fire appartus, and all eight of their public works vehicles were completely destroyed. There is nothng left of this small, close-knit community of around 4,000. Their story is gut wrenching.
Gotta get to the shelter...God bless you all and thanks for your thoughts and prayers...tim
When service gets more reliable, my son assures me that he can get all the photos I took on the web for all to see.
