Dear Mr. Drew Rosenhaus,

I would like to take this time to inform you that you and your counterparts, Player's Agents, or Sharks as you would like to call them are ruining sports. You continually push player's salaries higher and higher with no regards to the residual effects such a move causes. Higher and Higher ticket prices, parking fees. and concessions.
But that is something you would not understand. You don't have to pay for any such ammenities. You and your "shark" friends continually push this to the limit every chance you get.
Please also realize that you have nothing to do with those seats being filled, but you keep getting richer and richer.
And please inform your selfish client that he to does not put fans in the seats. The seats in Philadelphia will still be filled without Mr. Owens.
It is the N.F.L. that draws fans to the stadium. It is the PHILADELPHIA EAGLES that put fans in the stadium. It is FOOTBALL that puts fans in the stadium not your selfish client or their equally selfish AGENTS.
The game made it before Mr. Owens stepped on the field and I am confident it will continue.
Such an excuse that a "Holdout" is being done for the good of ones family is a lame and insulting reason. You do realize that Agents and the proffessional athletes are in the TOP 5% on the pay scales in the United States.
Sir you and Mr. Owens have made enough money to ensure that your Grandchildren will live prosperous lives and work may be just an "option" to them.

In all seriousness though Rwall, very well written. I too am sick and tired of hearing the bitching and complaining from these asshole athletes that think they have it tough. And think they have to bust their asses day in and day out to make "ends meet". I'd love to see some $40,000/year construction worker go ape-shit on one of these spoiled jerks. The true workers of society have to listen to guys like Barry "I'm a cheating/lying/asshole" Bonds talk about how hard it is to have to stand in the outfield all night long. Boo-Hoo, makes me think twice about paying my hard earned money to see one of these idiots, that can barely put a complete sentence together in front of a camera, ever again. If I could play ball for the rest of my life getting paid $60,000/year, I'd be there in a heartbeat, I LOVE TO PLAY SPORTS!

unfortunately 80,000 people do not come to see a construction guy dig a ditch!!!! they are paid this money because that is what the system has allowed,....and we all have contributed to it....we want the best teams and we want them now....so the team spends......yes, they are prima donnas who are spoiled, but they have a more marketable skill than most of us.......sucks we have to listen to them pontificate, but they are just the beneficiaries of a free market system and i can not fault anyone, for getting whatever they can.....also it is not just a game.....these guys have given up alot to do this.......I would make a bet if anyone of us had the talent we would take the money and think we were worth it......It is what the market will bear....how many guys in the world can catch a ball in traffic and then run a 4.2?? how many can hit a 98 mile fastball with the bases juiced in the 9th inning??? how many guys can play 40 minutes against a guy the size of shaq???

sports is big business and these guys are entertainers...yet we never complain when Tom Cruise, Jim Carey or Ben Affleck get paid 20 million a film and the film sucks.....

I am a believer in free enterprise....just not the prima donna attitudes that accompanies it!!

Nice points TTT, but I think all celebs make way too much money. To me, it doesn't matter if they are movie stars, singers, or whiney athletes. I understand about the whole free enterprise system and what it yields. Unfortunately, the only way to "show the athletes" exactly how we feel is to boycott the games, and no one buy tickets for an extended period of time, but that will never happen. So the circle of chaotic life continues.

The bottom line is that it is just a game and it is just entertainment. If professional sports ceased today, society would still be able to function. If teachers, cops, firemen....stockboys even stopped working, society would become chaotic....so yes it is just a game. And EVERY profession has sometype of sacrifice more in my opinion. If I get arrested I lose my job...period. There's no second, 3rd or 4th chance for a failed drug test. Most hiring practices have an interview process that takes into consideration your past experiences not what games you played.
Athletes play high School sports as recreation....College Athletes play for recreation Free Education, Free room and board and free books...There is some sacrifices but the rewards outrank the risks (Same as Pro Sports)
Teachers work under 3 - 4 year contracts. Should they have the opportunity to demand to renegotiate their contract because they taught someone to read....A FAR bigger skill then catching a ball or hitting a 98 mph fastball....No they don't.

Watching a Sienfeld episode never cost me $75 - $100 for a good seat...and to drink a beer while watching it never cost me $6.50. Movies here in SoFla still only cost $7.50 a reasonable expense that I can still go and enjoy with my family....All I'm saying is ENOUGH'S ENOUGH already. When did $49 Million become not enough to live on....It's insulting.

Great points and yes they are overpaid but that is what the market is today. Fans want teams to spend. I am fine with them getting paid. My problem is when they cry about not being able to feed their family with the millions they get. They sign a contract, honor that contract!!
Why is it that family (at least in most cases) is no where to be found when they are under contract? Then when they renegotiate, it is all about the family. Do you realize that TO has a kid that he does not want living with him? So much for love and family. Hell, just ask Shawn Kemp!

No you never heard that. What you heard them say is that when their contract is up they want new money....They work out their contract....
