For those of you looking for that kind of service, there are many companys that offer the same service as Sportsnow at a much cheaper price. One I know of is Data Broadcasting. Don Best uses Data Broadcasting or used to. If you are looking for fast and accurate lines, a pager is not the way to go, it's second and third hand info by the time a pager company gets it.

All I know is that for the past two or three years thes cost has been zero.
I would pay $10-15 a month but no a cent more;the most I paid before it became free was $9.99.
Thanks for the explanation and update Wiz.

        If I remember corectly

D J Frank was the programer for the "The Sports Page"
He sued them for rights on the programing and won. They are both about the same with their service.

Bettorschat-I checked out the sportspage link you provided. For $12 a month for scores and updates, it seems like a good deal.
Do you know if they are any good and reliable?
            Thanks

Savage no idea as I'm not a familiar with them.

Wayne yes, but only if you wanted scores etc.

You guys can get the ESPN Pager off ebay if you just want scores.

you did take a little in the back door area, but you have the pager. As long as it has the cap codes on it, you can still get service from someone and won't have to buy another pager.
Chill for a day or two, I'm working on something that might be a help to us all.

Wiz-get this. I called the sportsbeeper link you provided, and while talking to the lady, the sports/scores/scores came back on its own. VERY STRANGE!
I didn't buy anything but did give the lady the pager number;she promised she wouldn't tell anyone that I was getting the service for nothing(hopefully this is not the old check is in the mail routine).
The worst that will happen is the service will return to the $9.95 a month (through Verizon) that I originally paid.
I should add that the Airtouch/Verizon service I have now for nothing is good but not great, and I think updates are more like every 7-10 minutes or so.
If anyone is interested in the Verizon service, the number is 188-2477890(not open until Monday).

Wiz-I think it was just the pager number on the back of the pager.
                              Is that the same thing?

yes, that is the cap code.
I know some people in this business and I may be able to get some kind of service on existing pagers if the cap codes haven't been removed from the pager.
If there is no cap code on the pager, then the service provider has no way to acsess the pager.
                                Good deal for you
