Internet Question

Does anyone use a browser other than IE? I just downloaded Mozilla cause IE seems to slow my computer down with junk. Just curious?

What OS are you using? How much memory, processor speed, etc.
IE6 is extremely buggy on ME.

I'm running XP. Pentium 4 with 256 MB.

I use IE 99% of the time and I don't have any problems with it.

Have you tried checking your computer with an adaware program to see if you have a bunch of crap on there you don't need.

Go with BC's recommendation. You should also upgrade your memory to 512. XP runs much smoother.

Yeah I've tried the spyware finders and virus updates. It's just after running IE for a couple hours the computer starts acting goofy. Maybe upgrading the memory will do the trick. Thanks.

If anything else seems slow, check your system's airflow. If there isn't enough, or if a fan has shit the bed, the system's going to overheat and run like crap until it eventually dies.

It's nothing like that. Like I said after running like CBS Sportsline for a couple of hours I'll notice the computer seems to be working harder than it should so I pop up task manager and it's running at 100%. I kill IE and it goes back to 0-4 %. So something goofy with IE, I'll stick with Mozilla see if that is any better. Thanks for the help!

Are you sure you don't have a virus? What you describe sounds like a virus or adaware running in the background eating up your memory.

Go into your task manager, and sort processes by memory and CPU usage.

Mike, I use XP pro. Pentium 4 with 512 MB ..... I run my adaware and AVG every other night.... I also run Spydot once a week...I am on this laptop a minimum of 12 hours a day and it works like blazes... What BC said might be it... Try running AVG and see if it finds anything on your computer...
