The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that ex-Dolphins tailback Lawrence Phillips recently sold one of his Big Eight championship rings for $20 at a Las Vegas pawnshop.
"He said he was stuck in Las Vegas," pawnshop owner Steve Gibson told the newspaper. "He said, `I need to get out of town.'"
The oft-troubled Phillips played for two games with the Dolphins in 1997 before being cut in training camp the following year three weeks after an altercation with a woman at a nightclub.
A star running back at Nebraska and the No. 6 overall selection by St. Louis in the 1996 draft, Phillips last played in the Canadian Football League after washing out in the NFL.
