  • atkins diet?

anyone ever use this diet. ole frank white has to shed some pounds before baseball season. ive actually got to get back in shape so i can get back in shape.

sounds shady to me. today is my 1st day. i dont getit, i can eat all the f'n meat i want, just no carbs or sugars.

its actually hard not being able to eat a roll or a piece of candy. i get to enjoy diet soda and water.

is this diet bullshit or does it really work?

It works bigtime. I used the Southbeach diet in the winter. It's basically the same.

    I'm 6"4'

Before I started I weighed 230. Mind you I wasn't a real over weight person. But in the month in a half I was on it. I lost 20 pounds down to 210.

That was around six mouths ago. I'm now eating the things I use to eat just not as many and also watch the Carbs I intake and haven't gained a pound back.

The important thing is DON'T cheat at all the first two weeks. Your body needs to clean itself of all the refined sugars. Also another hint don't drink the diet pop only drink water. The pop slows down the weight loss.

My wife is a medic and she researched the diet bigtime before I went on it, also talked to many doctors and they all agree the diet is good. Just make sure you follow it to a "T"

It will help you shed pounds but as soon as you come off the weight will go back on. You need to just limit your carb intake and stay away from any junk food. Plus it is a binge diet. By cutting out carbs you are more likely to binge eat when you come off. GL!

The best way to lose weight is to start eating right and hit the gym.

I can give you a list of carbs that you can eat that won't put pounds on you. I will tell you that carbs don't make you fat its the bad food that you eat and lack of exercise.

Frank, I am currently on the Susan Sommers diet which is very similar and in almost 7 weeks, I have lost 42 pounds. I eat a lot, just the right things. I eat alot of veggies, meat, fish, cheese, eggs, salads, etc. I do eat carbs but I watch them. I usually have a good size plate of fruit or a large bowl of oatmeal in the morning, then usually just proteins, fats and veggies the rest of the day. I love it. I don't look at it as a diet, rather a change of eating habits. I also do have a Blizzard from Dairy Queen every 2 weeks. That doesn't kill it now. Good Luck!

I think the best way is to go to the gym (cardio very important)and eat right......you can still have carbs because your body needs carbs.....good carbs that I intake are usually foods like oatmeal, whole wheat bread, etc....although my goals were geared more towards becoming toned as opposed to losing weight.....

I started a low-carb diet September 1, 2003. I lost approx 40 pounds in 3 months. I went from 235 down to 195. In almost 9 months I've maintained my weight. I've stayed between 198 and 202. I've gone as high as 204 when I was on vacation. Each time my weight exceeds 200 I go on a modified variation of the diet. I'll have a few low-carb meals. I quickly return to a sub-200 level.

Frank how much weight do you need to lose? The low-carb diet won't work very well if you only need to lose a few pounds.

The body stores carbs as fat until the body needs it. The theory with the low-carb diet is to starve the body of carbs the body starts burning the stored fat for energy.

Tony, you are correct if you come off the diet and resume your previous eating habits you will put the weight back on. In some cases you'll put more on then where you started. The low-carb diet isn't a diet. It's a way of life. I've changed my eating habits drastically in the past year. On occasion I'll enjoy candy and other snacks. They are however a rare treat.

I am 6'3 ish, always kept within 10 lbs of high school weight (180) and I hit 205 last year, tried the Atkins diet, wanted to lose 20..lost 10 and hit a wall. I went off it, hit 205 again. This time I started eating low/no fat yougurt for breakfast and often lunch, soup or similar for dinner. I had faster results by eating less and cutting sweets (the hardest part for me)

Good riddance to Seanie..nice work BC!
