Some companies chose to only allow their employees on certain websites. In other words they can block you from all websites but the ones that they want you to see to prevent employees from surfing at their own leisure. Is there a way to bypass this?

        Unfortunately no.
This is done at a network/LAN level not at a individual computer level, so there is nothing you can do from your own computer

Nope. It's all blocked by the Firewall that Your company has in place.

It's normally blocked by name association like any name with "sex" for example in it or by IP. It depends on the Firewall software or hardware their using. Also, traffic can be sniffed in and out through all networks. So if by chance you make it out to a site you don't belong "specified by the rules of the firewall" they will see that also and block it a different way.

Unless your company doesn't have a clue how networks and firewall rules work. There really isn't away around being blocked.

            Hope this helps out

              There may be a way

if you can connect to a server that isn't blocked, like maybe http://www.anonymizer.com/index.cgi

                a decent 'backdoor' for you...

I hate jumping in late on this one, but what I tell people who need to bypass firewalls, VPN rules, etc, to do is to set up a way to remote control your home computer from work (using a program like PC Anywhere). It's unlikely that the ports you need to run those programs are being blocked.

If you can remote control your home PC from your work PC, you'd be all set. All the browsing you do on the home PC won't be logged or blocked.

                    logan3372,

Find out the IP addresses of the sites that you want to visit. You maybe able to bypass the proxy server software if they use something like Microsoft ISA server. If they use a software like Websense, then you are pretty much screwed. Another option would be to use the modem to connect to the Internet via dialup using your home isp. That would bypass their proxy server.

                    Luv2Play2,

It sounds like you have spyware on your machine that needs cleaned. Download Adaware or Spybot and use it to remove the spyware. That should stop the popups.
                    Good luck,
                    John
