    "Handicapped by Rick Needham
    MOUNTAINEER PARK - (CHESTER, W. VA.) - JULY 13, 2004
Fusao Sekiguchi, who raced 2000 Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner Fusaichi Pegasus, paid a world-record price for a foal sold at public auction when he acquired a Dance in the Dark colt for $Y490,000,000 ($4,537,037) during the first day of the Japan Racing Horse Association sale Monday. Consigned by Northern Farm, the colt was produced from Japanese Horse of the Year Air Groove on April 5, 2004. Dance in the Dark, a son of the deceased leading Japanese stallion Sunday Silence, was the top 3-year-old colt in Japan in 1996 and was leading first-crop sire in Japan in 2000. The colt is still a suckling, meaning that he was still with his dam while at the sale. The previous record price for a suckling or weanling was the $4,424,438 paid by American owner Satish Sanan for Padua's Pride, a son of Caerleon purchased from the Barronstown Stud consignment to the 1997 Tattersalls November sale.

    RACE #9 - MOUNTAINEER PARK - 10:20 PM EASTERN
8.3 FURLONGS DIRT THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD $30,000.00 CLAIMING $31,000.00 PURSE
    #8 DUMANNI OF COURSE
    #5 MOUNT EVEREST
    #7 YOUR ABC'S
    #2 AMAZON RIVER

#8 DUMANNI OF COURSE is the speed and pace profile leader in this claiming field this evening racing at, or about, 8.3 furlongs on the dirt, and has been a "POWER RUN PRODUCER" in each of his last five starts, hitting the board in three, including a pair of "POWER RUN WINS" found in his 2nd and 4th races back ... that's a "Bounce Pattern" folks, and the BoUnCe will be UP/POSITIVE tonight if that pattern continues. The 6-1 shot, #5 MOUNT EVEREST has hit the board in "POWER RUN FASHION" in both of his last two starts, including a "POWER RUN WIN" in his last start.

RACING NEWS: Hope that passage of slot machine legislation in Pennsylvania would result in a new Thoroughbred racetrack near Pittsburgh seems futile. Negotiators with knowledge of the bill signed into law July 5 by Gov. Ed Rendell said a stand-alone slots parlor in downtown Pittsburgh is much more likely. The possibility still exists that one of two proposed Standardbred tracks in either Beaver or Lawrence counties, to the north of Pittsburgh, will get a slots license. But developers who have been trying for more than a year to pull together a deal for Thoroughbred racing near Pittsburgh appear to have come up empty.

    BONUS LONGSHOTS:

    Colonial Downs
RACE #2: #6 SOUTH HAVEN, a 5-1 shot, qualifies as a TrackMaster PLUS "PowerPony," takes a class drop (-5), and has decent speed for this 5.0 furlong sprint on the turf.

    Delaware Park
RACE #2: The 8-1 shot, #2 NOMADIC ACTOR, an 8-1 shot, qualifies as a TrackMaster PLUS "PowerPony," drops in class (-3), and has nice speed for this 8.3 route test on the dirt.

Why no, that would be plagiarism, and we all know that's against the law. Besides just being plain wrong.
