I just bougt the wife a new Tourareg and now need to sell her 2001 Isuzu Rodeo. The Rodeo has only 22,000 miles on it and is in mint condition, but I bought the Tourareg at a WW / Porshe dealership and they said they wouldn't even take the Rodeo in trade...Hard to believe, but they claimed they wouldn't trade for anything not considered LUXURY!!! Anyway, my son tells me I should put in on AutoTrader.com and that I'd find a Buyer quickly. Has anybody sold anything on this or any other auto website, and, if so, how did it go? Presumably, I'd likely find a Buyer within a resaonable distance? or is it normal to have to have the vehicle shipped? I've listed it in the local paper, and I'm gonna try to stand firm on my asking of $12,000, but if I don't get a Buyer quickly I want to have a Plan B lined up....Anyone have any thoughts?? Thanks in advance...tm

BiloxiUMreb,
Did you look up what its worth on www.Kellybluebook.com ?
Why not take an ad out in your local newspaper section first? Then if that doesn't work try ebay or autotrader.
Personally I would have told the dealership either take it on trade or forget it. Delearships don't have to keep the car that they take on trade as they have smaller delearships that have buyers that come to these dealerships and look over cars then make a bid amount for them right when you're there trading.

I haven't bought or sold anything on autotrader before but have looked there a few times. People normally go and search for the type of car they are looking for and put in their zip code and how many miles they are willing to go get it. I usually put 50 miles or less. Hope this helps.

I have sold three cars in my life, all in the newspaper. Great succuess and you get your price. Most people do not like to debate too much, and the pro's will get their price or no deal...You should be able to do better than the trade in value, they are two different things. Find Blue Book add 500 and take it from there......Just my 2 cents!Joe Thorton for MVP

The real place you feel the effect of foreign vs domestic is when you SELL!
I bought the Honda Element, traded in a 2000 Honda Accord Spec Edition-
Car had 70k miles, added leather and a CD changer in dash..
I worked for a Honda dealer in 2000, I got the car for invoice which was 18k roughly after leather.
I just traded the car in for 12k, I drove it 4 yrs for a cost of 120 a month. I replaced NOTHING but tires..oil changes and tires once.
The lesson learned is avoid almost ALL domestics if you want resale value and strong reliability.
btw...I also own a 98 Civic and have done NOTHING to it but tires.
Dump the Chevy thoughts 49ersman and do the real math.
:D
