Melonge-obviously I have no problem if a team wants to voluntarily contribute toward an injured or killed in an accident;it is actually a rather nice gesture.
In this day of lawsuits, however, I can almost see certain fans scheming how to get rich at baseball game if a suit like the one cited above actually won.
How's this for one?
Lets go back to the example I cited earlier when Foulke gives up a grandslam homerun in the top of the ninth costing the Sox the game.
Lets say someone maybe elderly attends game and watches the excitement.
Then he/she goes home early and gets violently ill or even has a heart attack and then charges/sues Sox or Foulke for causing it by letting men get on base in the ninth and then the grandslam? :D
The courts ruled that since it could not determine the extent of her injuries from the first foul-ball , and the second one occured while she was incapacitated and not aware of any previous conditions that she was awarded a settlement .
The Phillies and a contracting medical staff where both held responsible and she left Richie Ashburn off the ticket because he went to she her after the game and made several visits there after .

I was waiting for the outcome in this case. I couldn't find the answer anywhere. What a stand up guy Richie Ashburn was huh...?
Thanks Memphis for the little challenge
Any other trivia to educate the young one would be welcomed.
