I understand why he was carrying one. I'm sure many guys who do a neighborhood watch don't carry one but if you have the license to do it, why not. He is out looking for criminals in an area that has had their share and when looking, you just may find some. I would want my gun just in case I was confronted with that and for my own protection. I didn't think him carrying a gun on neighborhood watch was really that big of a deal. I'm sure he had 100 times before.

I've read every side of this story, and see both sides, but bottom line is he shot and killed that guy, and that's fucked. Does anyone really believe that he was going to kill Zimmerman? You can't just shoot and kill people with no consequences. If I start a fight will some asshole and he kills me, it's ok because it's self defense?

According to George, there was an obvious scuffle and Trayvon said to him, You are gonna die tonight. Trayvon saw the gun and reached for it and George got it 1st in the struggle and pulled the trigger. Considering the people who saw Trayvon on top and basically beating on George, I tend to believe that's what happened. You may not.
If true though, he didn't exactly walk down the street and shoot him in the back of the head. Many seem to treat it like he walked up to the kid and just shot him. It simply didn't happen that way. If it did, THAT WOULD BE MURDER!!!!
Do I think George needed to follow him? No, absolutely not. That would be the one reason for me to understand a 5-10 year manslaughter charge because if he waits near his truck for the cops, none of this happens.
It certainly wasn't "Murder" though and I think the jury made the right decision in the end.

If I know a person has a gun, I would be less inclined to get into a conflict with him.

The photo shows pictures of Martin and Marley Lion, 17, a white Academic Magnet High School graduate who was shot to death in his car last summer. Both of the teenagers are smiling in their photos.
In white and black typeface, the photo illustration says the Martin case “made national news and was recognized by the president and countless celebrities,” while the Lion case “never made it past the local news.”
The photo has been circulated across the Internet, including Facebook and Twitter, and O’Neill estimates at least 900,000 people have “liked” the photo since she posted it.
Lion was shot multiple times and killed inside his car after a botched robbery attempt on June 16, 2012, according to authorities.
At the time, he was sleeping in his car after drinking too much at a party, police said.
Three black men, Julius Brown, 32, Bryan Rivers, 28, and Ryan Deleston, 31, have been charged with Lion’s murder and are awaiting trial.
“I wanted to make the point that lives are lost every day. Some are nationally recognized and some never make it past the local news,” said O’Neill, 22, a stay-at-home mom. “Every life, in my opinion, deserves the same recognition despite race or circumstances. The reason why I chose Marley in particular was not because he was a white boy killed by a black man as so many are trying to make it seem. I used his story because it hits close to home.”
Around the Internet this week, folks are drawing parallels to the Charleston murder of 17-year-old Marley Lion, who is white, to the death of Trayvon Martin.
Lion died in June 2012 while in his parked car outside a Charleston bar. His attackers were three black men, and they have since been arrested and face murder charges.
Martin's case drew international media attention. George Zimmerman, who shot Martin in a Sanford, Fla., confrontation, said the killing was self defense. A jury acquitted Zimmerman Saturday. The jury's action drew protests across the country and in Charleston.
While Lion's case was the subject of a large-scale Charleston manhunt, it did not draw more than regional media coverage.
SO WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? Why is Martin's death the subject of national outrage while Lion's death is regarded simply as a local act of violence?Last edited by wayne1218; 07-16-2013, 02:52 PM.

It's funny how a 17 year old black kid is shot by a 30 year old white man and people are outraged screaming racism and looking for justice, but when a 17 year old white kid is shot by a 30 year old black man, nothing. Local story at best, President says fuckin NOTHING, Lebron and his boys wear no fuckin "Hoodie" for him ... NOTHING. There is the bullshit and racism!!!

It really pisses me off kb. The White kid is sleeping in his car and he gets blown away for NOTHING and nobody cares. The Black kid is on top of a guy beating him and when the tables are turned and he gets shot, there is an outrage over it? WTF is wrong with this Country? People say Trayvon was doing nothing. Yeah right. The guy doing nothing was the one sleeping in his fuckin car. If anybody wants the definition of murder, look at the Marley Lion story.

I think if Zimmerman was black and Trayvon was white, Zimmerman would've been found guilty. I wish that wasn't true, but he followed him and shot him dead, you can't do that. Wayne, people say I'm gonna kill you all the time when they are fighting, that doesn't mean you can shoot them. I saw his wounds, he wasn't about to be killed. Rhiana had worse wounds from Chris Brown. I guess she should've just killed him.

and both the prosecution and the defense showed the scenario of Trayvon on top of George holding him by the clothing around the shoulders and repeatedly slamming his head up and down off the ground. That WOULD explain the bruises on the back of the head and it would explain why he didn't have as many in the front. I believe they met up and Trayvon got pissed that some guy (George) was following him and when George told him to wait, Trayvon jumped him. They even had people saying how Trayvon told them he wanted to get in to another fight and beat someone. George shouldn't have followed and Trayvon shouldn't have reacted with a physical confrontation. They BOTH fueled this in their own way and Trayvon came out on the short end of it.
What if George caught up to Trayvon and Trayvon said "What's going on" and they talked or waited for the police to clear things up. What then? Trayvon would be alive today. That's what would have happened and if you say he had nothing to clear up. I would say in a neighborhood where the crime was getting so bad that they did these patrols, you simply clear it up.Last edited by wayne1218; 07-17-2013, 05:41 PM.
