I'm taking wife and two kids (7 and 10) and 19 year old babysitter to Destin Aug 6 for a week. Will be hanging out at pool and beach. Dont have a place to stay yet, dont care if its a hotel or condo. Any suggestions????? Price range $150 to $275 night

Brady, Destin is an excellent choice for a vacation. I live about 45 minutes west of there. The Hilton Sandestin Golf Resort and Spa is what i recommend. Ranges around $180 to $200 a night. Destin Commons is a great shopping venue which is close to there and Meguiars restaurant has excellent food.

I agree. Pool is nice as hell too. Destin,Sandestin and Ft Walton beach are all kinda running together in my mind cause they are all close together but I stayed a weekend at the Sandestin golf resort and it was nice. Palms has a nice hotel in destin also that I have been to a few conferences at.

I think I can help here. We have been going to Destin for many years. I would definitely stay in a condo with a washer and dryer. You are actually going at a pretty good time, rates go down that week.

Check out Sandpiper Cove, it is close to all of the stuff you and your kids will like.

Also check out Resort Quest, they manage thousands of rentals in that area. Find a good condo or location on RQ's website, and then check out VRBO and find a condo in the same development for a much lesser price. ResortQuest will then match the VRBO price if you call them and let them know you found a lesser price in the same condo development. The benefit to this is you will get the amenities offered by RQ. My wife thinks it's not right to do, but it saves me at least $300 over a week. It's business. Definitely get a place with a washer and dryer. You pay a little more, but its worth it. Take your time and don't panic. I usually don't book my trip until 2 weeks before we go. Find the right place at the right price.

My wife and I will be there the same week, but we stay at Tops'l Resort, 15 miles east. It is next to a State Park, so the beaches are deserted. The kids are older so they don't care about the Big Kahuna Water Park or other kids attractions. Some of the bigger places offe kids camp programs, although your kids may be past that age.

Get my email from Spark, and I will give you more info, it is a great place to take the kids. Tons of people from TX and LA go to Destin. I am getting up there in age, but some of the hottest women I have ever seen hit the beaches at Destin. There is a place at the docks called AJ's. My wife and I watch the boats come in while I slam down a few Land Shark Lagers.

Each year I drive the 9 hours one way to Destin, it is worth it. Last year we went despite the oil spill; it was barely noticeable.

Let me know buddy, I will buy you a couple of cold ones. Lots of good food and good drink

PS: Jerry Jones has a huge house right next door to the place we stay. I have talked to him several times through the years, he uses the gym where we stay. He is unbelievably down to earth. Sometimes he lets some of The Boys stay there, but I have never seen any of them. He is a big party guy, but very friendly.

why not save some money and just take the 19yr old hottie babysitter?
