  • Help With a Wounded Bird

    Guys,

I just found a fairly recently hatched blue jay in the yard with a broken wing.

I'm starting to search out how to set a broken wing. Have any of you guys ever done it or seen it done?

Can anyone suggest a good instructional site for something like this?

He's too healthy to end it, if I can help it, but he's really hurting.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks guys!

            No kiddin!

            Wayne's right about the bird.

I have found out that setting this wing is something you don't want to try unless you're familiar with the procedure. With a bird this young, it's too easy to do further damage and he's in great shape otherwise.

I'm just going to keep him somewhere away from the predators overnight and see if I can find a good avian vet in the morning. If not, I'll have to end this suffering. I should probably do it right now, really.

            Thanks, guys
