  • Cooking crab legs

Was hoping JT or anyone else would like to throw some tips in here for me.

Was at the store yesterday when I saw the biggest, baddest, good meaty king crab legs yesterday. I've never prepared them before and would like some tips. Boiling seems the easiest to me, but does anyone have any tips or tricks while boiling them?

    Thanks in advance!

Put them in a collander over a pot of boiling water and steam those bad boys and then call me and I will come over and help you eat em

It's definitely going to beat the typical hot dogs/hamburger type gameday food!

That's all I've really heard of doing. Just figured I had to be missing out on a thing or two.

Thanks for the responses guys! Start heading toward OKC, I'll have them ready a little before the Texas game starts

My wife loves crab legs and I used to steam them in a baking pan. I then found out about a recipe from Alton Brown--it's easy and they come out better, so my wife says. Here goes---Wrap 3 claws at a time in a damp paper towel(s), along with 1 sprig of dill, and then wrap in plastic wrap. Place wrapped claws in microwave 1 package at a time and cook on high for 2 minutes. Remove and unwrap carefully. Serve immediately.

I was skeptical when I saw "microwave", but we've been doing it that way ever since. Also, if necessary to fit in the microwave, cut the claws at the joints. Have fun today!

That is WAY too complicated for kb!

Do you really think he has 1 sprig of dill on hand ... or plastic wrap for that matter?

Easy now, I can handle the sprig of dill

It may not be on hand, but I know where to find it

If you really have crab legs just keep 'em covered up and no one will know...

Goin' to da boo for OU. Nice to finally have an afternoon kickoff.
Back in the old days most of the home games started at 1:30 and TV scheduled around us.
Of course that was the Big 8 and before ESPN and BCS...

                            Hook em!

Put a little salt in the boiling water. I like them steamed and not any other way. It helps keep the flavor of the crabs.
