  • Who Has an Experience to Relate About a Cruise?

I ask this because my wife and I and our infant son just returned from our first cruise and had the time of our lives.
We took a seven day cruise from Ft. Lauderdale to the Eastern Caribbean and stopped in the Bahamas, St. Maarten, St. Thomas and the Grand Turk/Caicos Islands.
All I can say is wow!
On the ship(Emerald Princess) there were three main dining rooms from which to choose, a 24 hour buffet and two specialty restaurants(the latter two you had to pay extra for).
The food was outstanding at all of the places and the service was first class-we felt like a king and queen.
There was also first class entertainment every night, which consisted of comedy, magic, live music, etc.
They had multiple swimming pools on the ship, and it was just great to sit up on the top deck and take in that great sunshine.
The visits to the islands were great with plenty of sun, shopping, underwater adventures, sightseeing and in general something for everyone to do.
The crew on the ship from the kitchen, waiters to those who did the housekeeping were great and went out of their way to help us enjoy our trip.
The only negative thing was that it was difficult to get scores of the games, because the ESPN coverage there is mostly soccer.
Then again gambling was the last thing on my mind for this trip, and I only wanted the scores of the Red Sox games for the most part.
You can't use your cell phones on the ship or any of the islands other than the US Virgin Islands without paying an arm and a leg.
The ship's internet isn't cheap either, but since I wanted to follow my inverstments and get some sports coerage, I finally broke down and bought an hour's time for a little over $30(.55 a minute when you buy a package-otherwise it is $.75 a minute).
Anyways, just to summarize, it was a great experience, and I would strongly advise that any of you who have the time and who can afford something like this to try it sometime in your life(don't wait as long as I did)-you will have the time of your life-that is a LOCK which is really a lock!
ps-I for one would love to hear about your experiences from you folks who have already gone on a cruise somewhere.

Aren't most of those cruises loaded down with a ton of passengers?

I don't know what you mean by loaded.
Yeah there were 3000 people on board for this cruise, but we had very few problems waiting in line for food or anything if thats what you mean.
The ship itself is HUGE and I mean HUGE, probably longer than 3 football fields and 18 decks(floors)-it is stilll mindblowing how this thing moves at all albeit slow(around 20 mph).

I mean crowded. I would much rather fly somewhere and be more isolated.

I went on a singles cruise about 20 years ago when I was single and had the time of my life. I was a rock star as the women outnumbered the men by quite a bit. I had more pussy thrown at me that week than in the previous 5 years. Talk about a smorgasboard of women. Best time I ever had on a vacation.

A cruise is definitely not for someone who wants to be isolated.
In any case, a lot of time is spent in the different ports where they have a ton of stuff to do (snorkeling, sightseeing, shopping) if you get sick of the ship_hard to imagine).
Don't get me wrong-if you want to be alone on the ship, you can simply spend it in your own small cabin, but obviously you can also do that without leaving home.
