Lets try a sports related poll for a change.
The question is divided into two parts:
1) Out of all the different sports and teams you follow(college and pro), name the ONE and ONLY one team which you regard as your favorite team.
2) On that team since you became a fan including when you were a kid, name your three favorite players of all time in order if you like-you may also mention one honorable mention.
This time I will go first in answering the question:
My favorite team is well let me see, tough decision-yeah you got it THE RED SOX!!!!
My three favorite players are:
1) Ted Williams-my childhood idol-even though I didn't follow him for his entire career(I have bee a follower of the Sox since 1952), he was still great and is arguably still the greatest hitter I ever saw,and of course it helepd that he played for the Sox.
2) Carl Yastrzemski-what he did in the 1967(Triple Crown) especially during that last month of the season in the Impossible Dream year will live in my memory forever.
Couple that with his very good career, total dedication to what he did and longevity with the Sox(playing his entire career with the Sox), I can't think of a better choice.
3) As much as I didn't like his surly attitude at times, at this time I would pick Pedro Martinez and especially since he was the #1 pitcher when they finally won their first WS in 2004 after 86 years.
Honorable mention goes to Manny, who I might have placed higher if it weren't for his antics which led Sox to finally to get rid of him as well as his steroids use of course.
No one can argue with his stats, which are first ballot HOF credentials IF his steroid use is not considered.
