Need a labtop anyone have advice on which 1 to get

I wanna get one that has close to everything, willing to spend up to $650. I won't buy a Dell had too many problems with them in the past even though its been with desktops.
I hear Toshiba is good and obviously HP, IBM.

Any advice what processor, chip etc I don't much about those things at all.
