God WAS BUSY

A United States Marine was attending some college courses between assignments.
He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan . One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed atheist and a member of the ACLU
One day the professor shocked the class when he came in he looked to the ceiling and flatly stated, 'God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform. I'll give you exactly 15 minutes.' The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop.
Ten minutes went by and the professor proclaimed, 'Here I am God. I'm still waiting.' It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got out of his chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him, knocking him off the platform. The professor was out cold.
The Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently. The other students were shocked, stunned, and sat there looking on in silence. The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the Marine and >asked, 'What the heck is the matter with you? Why did you do that?' The Marine calmly replied, 'God was too busy today protecting American soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid shit and act like an idiot. So, He sent me.'


Having a son-in-law in the army, I thought this was neat.

I am from a military family. I am also African American. My Grandfather fought in WWII and served in the South Pacific. My father and Uncle both spent 22 years in the Army and Marines. My dad fought in both the Korean war and Vietnam war. I was born in Fort Bragg, NC. I grew up on Army Base. I had friends that had parents that were killed in Vietnam. I had several friends that had parents that were killed in the Gander plane crash that were bringing soldiers back to Fort Campbell, KY. I also know people that have been killed, Mamed, bankrupted with the war that we are fighting now.

I once heard someone say what makes someone a hero. A hero is someone that is scared of doing something but they conquer their fear and do it anyway.

We have brave women and men over there and here fighting for us and putting their lives on the line each and everyday. Soldiers, Police, Firemen, EMS and a whole lot more.

I was at a casino and one of the dealers there was from the middle east. She is not an american citizen but she served in the military and still had a hard becoming a citizen but she loved this country.

I guess the point that I am trying to make is today is 9/12 and I remember crying eight years ago after the attacks. I know war is real, it is for keeps and if you are blessed enough to come back you are changed. War effects people mentally.

When I read that article(I am a christian) but I am smart enough to know that this country is made up with all kinds of people from all kinds of religion and just because one is a christian that does not mean that one has a lock on this society. So If someone is stupid enough to make that kind of statement that is his right say it. I believe in the freedom of speech regardless of how ignorant it may be. It just bothers me when I hear people saying how much they love this country but they do not respect the bill of rights. My granddad, father and uncle fought in the military but they were treated as a second class citizen. They did not come back and knock the shit out of some red neck for saying something stupid... And that is some real shit...
