  • Granite countertops

Hey guys I am remodeing my kitchen and I want granite countertops. Does anyone know of anywhere where Granite is cheap or cheaper than Home Depot or Lowe's? Or does anyone do this for a living that can hook me up? My kithcen is not that big, but any info from you guys would help me. I'm on a tight budget. Thanks boys.

Get the granite from a local place and have it installed by someone they recommend. Home Depot and Lowes are all overpriced. Get three installation prices. Pre-fab is the cheapest way to go. The granite comes pre cut in slabs with bullnose edges. It's quite a bit cheaper because the fabricator doesn't have to cut so much and make an edge....Hope that helps

            http://www.factoryplaza.com/

The above ships & are located in Chicago.

            Above is in Dallas

Another good way too do it is call up places and ask them if they have any remnant pieces.

Also if you can find out who home depot or lowe's uses locally you should be able to go around them and get it done for less.

Home depot down here is definitely cheaper than Lowe's. Lowe's no longer puts a price per square feet, because the were way higher than home depot. Also if you have it shipped you need to make sure its insured for breakage. And if you install it yourself you will need at least 1 person to help you lift the pieces.

Stay away from Lowes and Home depot.

Check with a/your installer who deals direct with the manufacturers.

There are companies that make countertops that are made of only about 10 percent granite and can be placed right over the existing counters. You would still have granite counters, it just wont be a solid granite slab.

If it is too expensive. may I suggest a shopping carriage with a piece of plywood over it. You could always put your dinner on it and wheel it into the living room to watch TV
