  • HD TV question

Whats up all. Lookin to get an HDTV. I am settled on samsung or sony 1080p. My question is if you guys thing that there is a difference in 60Hz vs. 120 Hz screen refresh rate? The difference is about $600. Supposedly, it helps with watching sports bc it is fast...and who watches sports as much as us betting degenerates. Thanks for the help.

I'm a plasma owner myself, so I don't watch much programming on LCDs, but I haven't seen enough difference in the 120 Hz LCDs over 60 Hz LCDs in my limited viewing to justify a $600 difference.

get the samsung at walmart brother-add the 2 year extended warranty-just wait you can catch them on sale,i had two glitches with mine early, nothing really bad but they had somebody at my house within a day and replaced every circuit board in my tv-if you see the insides you will se what i mean-not much to them-great picture-just be careful with the screen-you can press on it too hard and they can shatter like car-glass,that spider-web affect, and no warranty c o v e r s that-best to hang it on the wall out of the way if your like me and like to do a little mma in your house-later bro chunger !!

I believe the 120HZ is better for video games. As most movies are shot is 24fps.

Which Model # are you looking at? As I know you can get much better deals online like ebay.

            Rocco,

There was just a huge write up on this as well. 1080 is more expensive, and will only help if the TV is greater than 45'. For 45' or less, there is absolutely NO discernable viewing difference. They do whack you another $200-$500 for the 1080, and the douchbag sales guys hype it up, like it makes a big difference.

Just some more food for thought!

Go Down To Circuit City And Check It Out For Your Self They Can Set It Up In Demo Mode Where 1/2 Is 60hz And The Other 1/2 120hz There Is A Difference But Is It Worth 600 Dollars? To Me I Rather Put The Money Into A Set That Has A High Contrast Ratio. If You Can Go With A Plasma As The Colors Are Better.

Go Plasma over LCD is you watch a lot of sports. LCD's look better, but they blur with any movement. Panasonic makes the best right now, Pioneer Elite is solid as well

If you're sold on the LCD, definitely get the Samsung over the Sony Bravia but those are two of the best.

Enjoy it. Whatever you do, don't let them sell you on Monster cables. You can get the same quality from someone else for 1/10th of the price.

How much money are you spending? I didn't realize you were going 52. The Sony Bravia is the best 52, get the XBR. If you wanna save some money the Sharp Aquos is pretty good for the 52.

Check Consumer Reports for excellent and unbiased ratings.
All my HDTV's(I have 5) are Sony LCD and/or Sonia Bravia and I love all of them.
Sharp, Samsung and Panasonic are all excellent choices.
ps I bought all of my sets on line and saved literally hundreds if not thousands of dollars than if I had purchased them from Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.
ps In all fairness my sets are all 40 inches and under;thus I cannot comment on the larger sets except to say that you will pay a lot more money if you buy your set in a store rather than online.
Also, if you buy online, check out the ratings of the stores themselves and be aware that they will try to sell you things for the tv which you don't need.

Online is way cheaper, but im lookin to buy the insureance policy (yes im a sucker but i like the peace of mind). he sony is nice, but i like the glossy finish on the samsung it think it brings out the color better.
