griff, You don't think the game possibly burned out the light quicker or anything? Mine doesn't have the bulbs (I think).
IMO...No...they said about 3 years of life for the bulb and I almost got that. 15 hours of foots on Saturdays...10 hours on Sundays...many many baseball and college hoops games...I definately got my moneys worth of the first bulb.
And I agree with 3Jack...hooking up the your gaming system to the big screen is a MUST IMO. It adds so much....add that with the surround sound....BOOOYAAA
That sucks. It must be a weird feeling having that happen. Damn that sucks. I fucken HATE Thieves!!!
It will go away but there is a sense of apprehension everytime we come back into the place now, having seen it ransacked. Then, every now and then, you think about the fact that there was someone in your place, going through your personals and in your home...it turns the stomach.
And, believe it or not, he left us something very special...a large dump in the toilet...imagine that!!!
I could be wrong...but I think that was more for the "older" big screen TV's or TV's from years ago. I also thought it was bad for it, but have been told that it's not now...or at least not as bad. I know my TV just took a shit...but I've had my 360 on it for about 2 years. I never noticed any color fading or shit burned into the screen.

I probably will be setting mine on the lower setting now too. I don't know...It's just the picture is much better with the dynamic setting. If I have to pay 135 bucks for another lamp in 3 years, I say it's worth it to burn it brighter....who knows...I may not even own this TV in 3 years. Electronics gets outdated sooo fast these days.
The said that the bulb would last about 3 years...I've owned it for 2.5 years. It was a display model so that adds a bunch of running time too. Since it was the display TV they gave me $500 additional bucks off. But then they wanted to sell me the 5 year extended warranty for $500 bucks...I turned it down...I don't recall if the warranty covered bulbs/lamps.
Yeah when I got mine I debated on getting the extended warranty as it does cover 1 bulb replacement. However, it covers everything else though, but I didn't get it.
I'm not sure...but I think LCD and Plasma are 2 different TV's
Maybe we have a TV saleman/electronics junkie in the BC area that could help us with this???
Yes, LCD and Plasma are different TV's.
Eventually IMO they will stop making Plasmas as LCD's are getting really close to the same quality of picture with the exception of the blacks. This is also true for the DLP's.
I know Mitibushi quit making plasmas I believe a few years back to concentrate on the DLP market etc. because Sony had most of that market.
I know nothing about this stuff. What do you mean by deep? I have a Yamaha surround sound hooked to it and all i know is the thing rocks!
How many inches back does the TV go? I think you have a DLP, because a few years ago I don't believe they even made LCD's in 60 inches. And 60 inch LCD's are pretty expensive in the range of around $3k and up.

Supposedly Plasma pictures are better than LCD's..but I bought an LCD and can't even imagine the pic being better that it is so I am very content with an LCD...plus, the Plasma's are much, much more expesive...no?

Price of Plasmas have been coming down big time with the exception of the really bigger picture sizes like the 58 inch and up. So basically you can get a Plasma for about the same money as the LCD now.
If you look at the LCD vs. the Plasma you really can't tell a difference. The best way to see the difference is watching the blacks. As the blacks on a LCD and DLP are not true blacks like on the plasma thus the biggest reason for people stating that Plasmas are a better picture.

Typical Dem making this a racial conversation....
Are they really the same price? When I bough thtis one in November, I looked at two Plasmas and couldn't tell the difference. Now that I think about it, they were slightly mor ebut not a lot.

The Plasma 720P's have came down under $1,000 for a 42 in most brands. Panasonic is the number 1 maker. The Plasma 1080P's have came down some, but will come down more. Most shows, DVD's etc, are not in 1080P which is the future just like HD. When HD came out there wasn't hardly anything being broadcast in that and now more and more shows are showing up with it including DVD's.
Then if you go into home theater systems 5.1 is standard, but they then went to 7.1 and now some are going with 9.1 which is BS IMO. 5 Speakers sounds great and most movies etc are geared for 5.1 or 5 speakers.
One other thing if you're going to play Xbox etc then you don't want a Plasma as you have the risk of burn in. When plasmas first came out a lot of people got screen burn in, but now they are suposed to be better at that. I don't know though as I'm still skeptical on that.

That is next...going next week to try to figure this out as I am like Wayne and know nothing about it. I want to get a Home Theater system that can hook up to my computer, play my iTunes and, as our apartment is wired in every room for speakers, be able to take 8 speakers in addition to the living room.
