  • Anyone know anything about wine?

I'm making surf and truf tonight and I've done some research on it, and from what I got out of it was that chardonnay goes with the lobster. I've tried chardonnay before and to be honest, I thought it tasted like pickle juice . I'm going to try it again. I bought a bottle of Fat bastard chardonnay to go with tonights dinner. should I chill the wine, or should I leave it at room temp? Thanks.

Always chill White wine. Red wine is supposed to be room temperature but my fiance likes to chill that too (most don't). Fat Bastard is not the best of wines. Get a Kendal Jackson or something like that. It is not high end but very popular. Red meat, red wine. Chicken, pork and usually seafood, go good with white. If you want a different white flavor, try a Pinot Grigio (fruity). I work for a big wine & beer distibutor so if you need any more help let me know!

I saw Pinot Grigio and where some other people mentioned it. I think I'll take the fat bastard back real quick. Can you tell me who makes a good Pinot Grigio Wayne? Thanks.

most wine/liquor stores will have write-ups beneath the bottle...Ask for help from the person there....Most will steer you in the right direction. I am alover of reds and wayne is correct that most is served at room temp.....however there is a trend to chilling it....I am selling a vineyard/winery in Quebec and they actually have a red called "Ice Wine" which is popular in Canada.....

however, bottom line is that it is individual taste and do not let anyone tell you there are no good bottles under $20.....there are a ton

A personal favorite of mine is 14 Hands Merlot and it is like $10 a bottle

There is not alot of difference there. Look for a $10-$20 bottle and try it out. Corbet Canyon is very popular.

corbet canypn is run of the mill.....there are better ones in that price range......most award winning wines will have an accompanying placard beneath it and a brief description

Thanks Tony. I'm not looking to kill it either the meat alone was damn near $70.00. I like the sweat style like wayne said and so does the old lady. Is Merlot sweat? They said it goes with beef/red meat?

I didn't say it was anything special Tony. I said it was by far one of the more popular. People wouldn't like it if it were shit.

did not mean it like that......it is just a highly advertised brand that is fine.....i just meant there are in my opinion many other better wines in that same price range from smaller vineyards.....That is why i suggest to talk to the person who works there......I got into wine about 15 years ago and took classes and traveled to vineyards and learned about legs/sugar content, barrel type, etc......

many award winning wines have a placard beneath the shelf describing the taste

All merlots are different and each wine will bring out different qualities in the food and vice versa.....I never believed this and thought it was horseshit but tasted many blindfolded.....Went to one class that said that the rules for reds and whites are changing and it is still up to the individual....
