    tanyon sturtze - see above

Paul Quantrill... had to retire because his arm was abused
He's trusting the same guy that helped him win how many WS? How do you blame him for that? What a joke.

Baltimore has won 4 straight series now against NY Doc. Maybe Torre was trying to avoid that from happening or maybe Baltimore just has their number of late. Torre is not stupid and i'm sure he talked to Rivera. If Mariano said he was feeling good then WTF ... Believe him for his words. I'm sure after this many years together, they know each other well.

No offense but if you don't know how horrendous of a job Joe Torre does with the bullpen then you don't follow the Yanks.

He kills the bullpen. Look it up. Mo has no business pitching 4 out of 5 games. Especially when he looked bad 3 nights ago.

Well, i'm sure alot more goes on and is talked about behind closed doors than you or i know about. The guy's record speaks for itself (imo). That Pen is crap for the most part so it's not like he has alot. They needed Gagne. Yes, he blew a couple games last weekend but he has had some good ones too that nobody talks about. I think he will get settled in and be fine. NY could have used that arm, especially against Boston, a team Gagne has done well against.

NEW YORK (AP) -The New York Yankees tweaked their bullpen Wednesday, recalling relievers Edwar Ramirez and Sean Henn from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The club optioned Jeff Karstens and Jim Brower to its top farm club one day after they pitched poorly in a 12-0 loss to the Baltimore Orioles.

Karstens got a spot start Tuesday night and allowed five runs and five hits in three innings to drop to 0-3 with a 11.20 ERA this season. Brower, who relieved Karstens, was charged with six runs - four earned - and five hits in two-plus innings.

Henn is 2-0 with a 4.26 ERA in 21 games with New York this season. Ramirez has appeared in three games with the Yankees this year, going 1-0 while allowing four runs in 2 1-3 innings.

Brower, who was promoted Aug. 6, appeared in three games. He left the team briefly to be with his wife, Jessica, after the birth of the couple's first child.

                        EXACTLY!!!

There are obviously issues there and i'm sure Torre doesn't want to pitch Rivera in 4 of 5 games. Again, he is not that stupid. Some things are done out of need and not choice. You just hope they can come through when you have to do it. This time, he didn't. 1,000 other times, he has!

No doubt Mo told him he could go. Every player is going to say they feel great. Joe is the manager and should be able to realize he is killing the pen again. He did it to Flash two years in a row, to Vizcaino at the beginning of this year and to Proctor for two years. Joe falls in love with one guy and rides them. It was never a problem with Mo becasue he was so great but time does catch up. I know we are battling for the WC but somtimes you need to lose battles to win the war. No need for Mo to be in there today. He didn't have good stuff the last two times out.

As for Gagne, no way in on EARTH would I have traded Joba, Hughes or Ian for him. I like the deal the Sox made but the Rangers wanted one of our top 3 pitching prospects for a Rent-A-Player. So although I hate that the Sox got him, I know I would rather you have him then the Yankees give up one of those guys.

The Yanks are finally developing their own prospects. Cano, Melky, Wang and Phillips first and now these three guys. And I for one love it! Reminds me of brining up Posada, Bernie, Jeter, Pettite and Mo.

ESPN's Buster Olney just stated that the Yanks have one, if not the, Top Pitching Prospects in all of MLB. So I am glad Cashman didn't ruin that for 3 months of Gagne.

Well i would not have traded any of them either. Boston didn't give up much imo so i'm not sure why the Yankees would have had to.

No way do I think Joe Torre is stupid but every manager has a weakness. Mo had no velocity or movement the two outings before this one. He needs to throw someone else today. Mo needed another day of rest.

Cause I think the Sox had better mid-level prospects. We had 3 really good guys and then a bunch of high ceiling low level prospects. The Sox had some mid-level guys that are much better.
