don't kid yourself...irvin has not learned anything,,,,he could always be seen in West hartford CT with some young hotties after his show....and still was doing coke in the bathroom up until he left....
he is a master showman and knows what to say......He is still the same guy.....just telling the good people what they want to hear

Originally posted by TMAC951I never said I admire him.. I loved and respected the way he played the game of FOOTBALL. He gave his all when he was on the field playing the game.. Broken neck and all.. You dont make it to the hall of fame for shit you do OFF THE FIELD. You make it to the hall for shit you do ON THE FIELD. So why talk about shit that happened off the field when it clearly has nothing to do with why he made the hall of fame anyway??

I don't think Irvin should have been inducted into the Hall of Fame. But if you go down the road of reasoning that he should not due to his off field antics, that argurment is blown out of the water due to the induction of Lawerence Taylor. I feel that LT was by a more superior player than Irvin and also more dominant than Irvin, but he they both worshipped the same off-field demons.
And please don't try bring in the different position argument. LT was flat out a dominant player that struck fear into all his opponents. Irvin was very good, but he was a showboat player on a successful and popular team. Sorry for the digression...not a big Irvin fan.

Whats up SmallMike... Irvin might be full of shit... I do not know him but I do know that for the rest of his life the things that he did off the field will hang over him... He will not get the respect, jobs or other opportunies that an Aikman or Emmett Smith will have... He will always be wanting... You may feel what you want about Gary Shelfield but he said about his uncle Dwight Gooden that he learn what Not to do from him... But you know I expect that from a guy that has bouncing tits next to his name
