for cost of living-lexington,kentucky rates very well, should not be any trouble finding the type of jobs-you guys currently have-pretty decent year round climate........ironchung,i'm in nashville-the crime is a little rough // for example-you can go in a popular eatery and when you come back out-your car is stolen !!

And Louisville made the list....Louisville, CO!!!!

If I had to do it again, Scottsdale, AZ if you can take the heat would top the list. Denver would have been up there but I here a lot about crime. I hear great things abut Seattle but it would be too far for me.

Being that you are type-A's and it seems like you want a major city (type-A's would not do well on any of the places on this list)...what abour Chicago? Awesome city just cold.
also agree with threej on scottsdale but you mentioned cost of living and would think that city would be on the upper end.

Chunger, right on but RM and I are from the same area- suburbs of NYC and worked in NYC. While Scottso may be expensive, it is cheap when coming from NY.

i am thinking mainly about housing brother but in the kentucky and tenn. area you can get a nice say 2500 square foot home with a pool for about 250 K. and be in a nice suburb within a 30 minute drive of nashville or lexington...OF COURSE IT IS A BUYERS MARKET RIGHT NOW...

1 hour to Cherokee NC Casinos (see cons below)
The city of Asheville is eclectic, artsy, and is known as Greenwich Village of the South.

                          Cons:
                          Andie McDowell lives here
45 minutes from Herbert "Cowboy" Coward aka the toothless guy in Deliverance (true fact)
Cherokee Casinos are currently video machines only

The city of Asheville is known as the San Francisco of the east.
It is also known as the dredlock(sic) capital of NC, of which 98% of the participants are caucasian.

All of the above is factual. Good luck in whatrever you decide.
