My girl wants to go out to Lake Tahoe for Labor Day weekend its her bday, neither of us have ever been. Just a few questions which is better cali side or nevada side? whats the difference? what are good places to stay? things to do? anything u guys have would be much appreciated...thanks

South Lake Tahoe has more casinos and nightlife, but the North side is way better for bringing your girlfriend. Stay at the Hyatt in Incline. Call casino services, and tell them you'll be opening an account and doing some gambling, they'll give a better rate on the room. Huge heated pool, too big hottubs with snow capped mountains in the background. Do some kayaking during the day.Comment

Also, Cali side and Nevada side, means nothing, it's just an invisible line that separates areas you can gamble on and areas you can't.Comment

I definitely want to gamble...but now hearing about these wildfires, not sure if it would be wise to go in September or wait till things are restored back to normal...Comment

i was just in tahoe last weekend and you can't really even tell there was a bad fire. Everthing is up and running and except for one area of burnt trees, its the same great Tahoe. If you want to relax and have a quite vacation I would recomend staying in north shore, however if you want to party and still go to the lake during the day you have to go to south shore. If you want to stay at the casinos I would recomend Mont Blu. It used to be Ceasers. They have hot tubs in rooms and a nice indoor pool that resembles a minature grotto. what u can also do Is rent a house in tahoe keys. its a community about 5 miles from strip that is located on the water.
