She was near-sighted (-10) and it is considered a permanent fix. One of the requirements to meet before she was eligible to have the permanent lense replacement was that your vision ************ could not have changed for the last two years prior to the eye surgery....

I had lasik done a few years ago after wearing contacts for 18 years. It was worth every cent. I had to go without contacts for 30 days before surgery since I had hard contacts, that was the biggest pain. You cant feel a thing, but you keeping thinking you will. The doc had to zap my left eye a little longer and I could see a little smoke rising, but it was cool. Just look at the red dot and it is over before you know it. I would rec. shopping around for a doc that rents a machine, not one that ownes. The ones that rent have the latest machines.JW, you sure that is your brother in law?

Bi-focals are 2 separate prescriptions polished into the lens....generally far vision, and 1 for close up (reading).....Originally posted by BettorsChatWhat are tri-focals? I've heard of bi-focals
I have 3...there's a distance (18"-24") that my vision is blurry with the bifocal prescriptions, thus the need for the third one, in the center of lens....
This is the distance, that while driving, I have to lean forward, or backward, to clearly see the Dashboard gauges, speedometer, etc.........with the Bi-foacals...not with the Tri-focals...
So, if someone threw a baseball to me, I'd have to pick it up visually, 3 times, far, closer, close, to catch it.......
I umpired, High School, and some College BaseBall, for 31 years, and it got real difficult when I had to go to tri-focals...Continued for 3 more years, then hung the "Chest Protector" up......
With my glasses, I have real good vision, without, from any distance, everything is real blurry........
PS---very expensive when buying these bad boys.........kaptainLast edited by Kaptain; 06-26-2007, 10:15 AM.

I had Lasik surgery done Friday. My surgery was for mono-vision. My right eye is for distance. My left eye is for reading. The brain automatically adjust to the eye that focuses better on the object.
Ten minutes after the surgery I was able to read without glasses. The next morning at my post-op my vision was 20/20.
I highly recommend the surgery. I was painless. The only problem I experienced was the night of the surgery my eyes were super sensitive to light. The next morning I woke with no side effects.
So far my only regret is not having it done years ago.Last edited by frankb03; 09-04-2007, 08:17 PM.

My surgery was done about 5:30 PM. I was OK till it became dark. Once it was dark out my eyes became super sensitive to any light. I could not keep my eyes open for more than 2 or 3 seconds. They were also tearing a river. My tears were pouring out of my eyes down my cheeks. When I woke the next morning I was ok. It was as if I never had surgery. The first thing I did was turn on the TV. I was able to read the ESPN score ticker with no problems and no glasses.Originally posted by FB Coach13the worst part is the next 12 hours just because everything is so bright but I have no complaints and can see great

I was nearsighted til I had the Lasik surgery 3 years ago......very happy with it!!! Beats the hassel of putting on contacts and cleaning it every night and buying supplies every month. Before that I had glasses which I broke several times. The surgery was short and pain-free. What I remember, you were not allowed to get it wet for a week (submerged) after surgery. My sight was awesome with 20/20 vision with no complications. Some people I know complained about seeing rings at night but I did not experience it. I highly recommend it.

I am far-sighted but the far is getting weak also ... I think the surgery would be perfect for me ... but damn, I think it takes ca-hones for you to allow anyone to slice into your eye ...

mark I would need more than zanax hahahaha ... something like chains .. straps.. handcuffs ....Originally posted by mark30I had it done about 3 years ago. In 1 day my vision went from 20-400 to 20/20. The following week it was 20/15. It was worth every penny.
You are awake during the procedure which is a little scary. They give you option of taking a zanax. What they do is put a ring around your eyeball to hold it still. Then they slice it which is scary because you see nothing but black for a few seconds. Then next you hear a clicking sound which is the laser performing the procedure on your eye. You dont feel a thing.
I highly recommend it.
