After weeks of a relentless "Save Jericho" fan campaign complete with nuts - millions of them - CBS is bringing back the post-apocalyptic drama for a second season with a seven episode mid-season order.
CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler broke the news in a letter posted in the fan section of the show's official website.
"You got our attention; your emails and collective voice have been heard," she wrote to the fans, who sent lots of nuts to top CBS executives over the past few weeks.
"In success, there is the potential for more," she said about the episode order.
"But, for there to be more Jericho, we will need more viewers."
Jericho - which centres on the residents of a Kansas town who have survived a series of nuclear explosions in the United States - was cancelled in the US in May after its ratings took a blow in the second part of the season, following a three-month hiatus.
Jericho supporters launched the nuts campaign, which was inspired by a line at the end of the first episode, uttered by Skeet Ulrich's Jake Green in response to the neighbouring town's request to surrender.
"Nuts," he said.
The majority of the cast, including stars Ulrich, Lennie James and Ashley Scott, are coming back.
Also returning is the core writing staff of the show, led by creator/executive producer Stephen Chbosky.
Executive producer Jon Turteltaub will be back.
Showrunner/executive producer Carol Barbee, who had moved on to serve in the same capacity on CBS's midseason drama Swingtown, also is returning and will work on both shows.
Tassler's letter to the Jericho fans ended with a personal request: "PS Please stop sending us nuts."
