  • As wife packs up, is A-Rod out at home?

Rodriguez says his off-field antics won't 'be a distraction' to team

Yankees superstar Alex Rodriguez vowed yesterday that revelations about his off-the-field antics wouldn't affect his play for the slumping Bombers.

"I certainly don't think this will be a distraction to our team," A-Rod said before last night's winning effort against the Toronto Blue Jays.

But it may be a distraction at home: His wife, Cynthia, brusquely left their East Side pad last night with two suitcases, refusing to speak with reporters.

A-Rod wouldn't directly address reports that he spent Sunday night out on the town with a sexy blond gal pal - while his wife was back in New York with their 2-year-old daughter. But his manager, Joe Torre, spoke up for his star player after meeting with him in private.

"Alex is a big boy. I know how serious he takes his baseball, so it really wasn't an issue for me," Torre said, adding that he thought the media attention was "over the line."

Yet the sighting of A-Rod, 31, and the buxom blond in Toronto led to several accounts yesterday, all portraying the slugger as a serial strip clubber.

The Toronto woman also was spotted on A-Rod's arm two weeks ago at a glitzy Las Vegas nightclub, according to gossip Web site TMZ.com. Rodriguez stopped by the Tryst nightclub at the Wynn Las Vegas Resort with the blond after midnight on May 14, an off day while the Yankees were traveling from Seattle to Chicago.

They tried to go to the topless pool bar Bare, but were turned away because there was a private party there, a source said.

Just this March, A-Rod was spotted chatting up a curvy blond inside the Whiskey Park bar in Tampa, not far from the Yankees' spring training home.

He chatted with the mystery woman at the bar, then whisked her away to a strip club for the rest of the night, witnesses said.

In New York, A-Rod used to be a regular at the VIP Club, where he always asked for a dancer who performs under the stage name Monique.

Monique is 5-feet-5 with brown hair and brown eyes and has a well-toned, muscular figure, a pal said.

When the stripper jumped over to the Hustler Club, Rodriguez started going there to see her perform and buy sexy lap dances, a source said.

He even took her out for a pricey shopping spree at the Versace store on Fifth Ave., the source said.

A petite stripper at the Hustler Club said A-Rod "likes the she-male, muscular type. They brought me up to the champagne room one time. I spun around once and that was it. I'm not his type."

She said A-Rod often brought his wife to the club "and she's very pretty. I'd rather dance for her any day."

A-Rod also regularly hangs out at other strip clubs in New York, such as HeadQuarters and Rick's Cabaret.

"A-Rod is known as the king of the strip clubs," a source said. "He gives the girls his number to meet somewhere else later on."

He also goes to a private social club in Chelsea that fronts as a poker club but also hosts wild, after-hours sex romps, a source said.

Some claimed Rodriguez even shoots X-rated text messages to hisfavorite strippers across the country.

"He loves to text dirty," said a strip club insider. "His wife should check his messages."

The off-field shenanigans are nothing new for A-Rod, who met his gorgeous wife, Cynthia, 34, at the gym in Miami, their hometown.

Her mother, Evangeline Scurtis, 60, actually praised her son-in-law yesterday, saying, "He's a very nice guy, a wonderful guy."

Outside Yankee Stadium, team general manager Brian Cashman wouldn't comment specifically on the A-Rod mess, but he noted wearily, "It's been extremely difficult times."

Power, money, and good looks = cheating EVERYTIME.

        Sad, but true

This should come as no surpise to anyone. I have never understood why superstar athletes even bother with marriage. Their gonna end up divorced with half their stuff.

Because he is an overhyped punk.......have you ever watched him do an interview?? He NEVER smiles, he always acts like such a bad ass on the court. Dude, I have NOTHING against James, I just want him to do something before people start claiming his "GREATNESS"....what has he done so far that even deserves GREAT attached to it? The weak ass Cavs get in the playoffs in the weak ass Eastern Conference, He is absolutely the ONLY player on that team. So he gets all the pub, and everyone wants to how do they say it "BEAR WITNESS".................my question is to what??? What has he done?? Again, overhyped punk......and if they make it to the Finals..............Stern has FIXED the NBA. But they won't the Pistons are going to lay a couple big games on the "Savior" like I said.............Years end, he won't have a ring. If you are truly honest with yourself, are you telling me that you think DWade and James carry themselves in the same manner?? Trust me, James has done NOTHING to deserve the title GREAT!!!

DWade has nothing on James. DWade is a good player don't get me wrong, but he can thank Shaq for the ring. Dwade will never win another one. Lebron on the other hand is still only 22 and I guess scoring 25 straight points in the 4th quarter and 2 OT's in one of the most impressive playoff performances of all time isn't much

I'm a huge Michael Jordan fan by the way.

How are you impressed with the ONLY guy who can score shooting the ball.............one of the "greatest playoff performances of all time"???? Have you not watched alot of basketball? Who else was going to score, I will give him scoring 25 points is impressive, but who else was going to do it? That team is sooo bad........And you are very wrong about DWade will get another ring, you look only at the present. Trust me, the Heat will only get better, like DWade is sooo old. As for Shaq, you are only proving my point, DWade carried that team through that playoff run, and he had the most DOMINANT player of all time on his team......KEY WORD TEAM. I am the biggest Jordan Fan around, but how many rings did Mike win without Scottie.......NONE. How many did Scottie win without MIKE NONE......Kobe without Shaq....so far NONE....Shaq without Kobe.....ONE. My point is, DWade carried the Heat to that Championship, Shaq was actually horrible in the Finals.......but Alonzo stepped up. But as good as DWade was in the Finals run.........I would NEVER use the word GREAT to describe it. Many times he scores 15-20 points in the 4th quarter, WITHOUT OT......but he is not the GREATEST ever. Dude, I have read alot of your post, I respect your knowledge, but hype is what it is $$$$$$. Lebron has to be GREAT, NIKE has too much money on it as does the NBA, so again I ask you, other then carrying a team, that someone has to carry in the 4th quarter of ONE game.....what has the Savior done for me to "BEAR WITNESS" to??? So let me ask you.......Stern fixes it so that the Cavs face the Spurs in the Finals, and the Savior and the HORRIBLE team wins it in 6 or 7 games and as a FAN you would accept that..............it would seem logical to you that, that HORRIBLE team beat the Spurs in a 7 game series.......if that happens the FIX is in and I hope I am on the right side. I bet you love SPRITE too....

Nah, I didn't lose hardly anything on the Pistons last night.......I just HATE stupidity when it comes to how GREAT a player is. God, we throw it around to anyone who supposedly "carries a team to ONE win" Good game last night sure, but he is so over hyped!! What has he done??
