    No Amnesty For Sellout Politicians
May 18, 2007 at 7:55 am · Filed under Vox Populi

Comedian George Carlin once said, “The term ‘bipartisan’ simply means that there’s a larger than usual deception going on.” Those words were never truer than they are today.

The Senate “reached across party lines” to craft a deal that would “grant amnesty to millions of illegals while securing our borders.”

Well, they’re almost all here, so I guess the border is secure. The thinking by some being that if everybody who lives in your area is already in your house, there’s no need to put locks on your doors. Brilliant.

    Here’s what was said:

Bush: “This is a bill where people who live here in our country will be treated without amnesty but without animosity.”

Ted Kennedy: “the best possible chance we will have in years to secure our borders and bring millions of people out of the shadows and into the sunshine of America.”

John Kyl: “it represents the best opportunity that we have in a bipartisan way to do something about this problem.”

Kyl’s words represent what’s wrong with Congress in general who populate the city that confuses motion with positive action. Sometimes doing nothing is far more advisable than doing “something.” If you’re drowning, and Congress threw you a cinder block, they would gladly return to the chamber with smiles on their devious faces and report that they “did something about the problem.”

Sometimes George W. Bush makes me wince at having defended him on other issues. He dances around the word “amnesty” like Fred Astair, not realizing that what you call it doesn’t change its form. Try calling your bathtub an automobile and then hop on and see how far it takes you.

And speaking of cars and water, Ted Kennedy wants to bring millions of illegals out of the shadows and into the sunlight? Guess why Ted can say this with such ease? Because they’re not going to be allowed to sunbathe anywhere near in Hyannis Port or Martha’s Vineyard.

The very idea of granting legal status to illegals while “strongly securing the borders” is laughable in not only practicality, but in the message it sends to both others who will also spill over the border, and about the politicians who implement these insane ideas.

There are millions of illegals in the United States because politicians — in many cases the very ones who are at this moment patting themselves on the back for “solving” the problem, have been derelict in their duty of securing the border. Leave it to these politicians to find a positive way to spin his or her gross failure into a human rights cause. Somewhere, Albert Einstein, who said that “a problem cannot be solved by the same mind that created it,” is laughing his butt off.

We need to vote out the likes of any politician not taking into account the best interests of America and Americans. Any Republican or Democrat supporting this bill needs to be relieved of his or her duties by Republican and Democrat voters. Let’s show Washington that “bipartisan” works both ways.

Of course, that won’t happen, which only highlights the need for a president who won’t sign away the safety and security of American citizens, not to mention offer a slap in the face of any immigrant who was silly enough to take the time and effort to come to the U.S. legally. Wow, what a waste of time all that paperwork turned out to be.
