O'Donnell May Wind Up on ABC Rival After Leaving 'View'
(May 3) - It's no secret that Rosie O'Donnell has brought ratings success and watercooler buzz to 'The View.' So it shouldn't come as a shock that networks are wooing her after she failed to come to agreements with ABC on a new contract.
FOX News reports that CBS and NBC have already offered her a daytime talk show. The same report breaks down more specifics behind O'Donnell's departure, saying that O'Donnell was clearly offended when 'View' host Barbara Walters failed to offer public support for her following her feud with Donald Trump .
Sources told FOX reporter Roger Friedman that when O'Donnell voiced displeasure, ABC offered to give O'Donnell control of the show, relegating Walters to a guest host role. Walters wouldn't agree to this, which led the network to make O'Donnell a three-year offer. O'Donnell was looking for a one-year, $10 million deal and walked.
