most homeless people have nobody to blame but themselves. This is my opinion and I have no facts to back it, but most homeless are either lazy or uneducated. They don't bring much value to society. What skills do most of them have? For me, a dog is family. Almost like having a kid. They trust you to take care of them, they rely on you, and in return they love you. I think why people care about dogs is because of their loyalty to their owners and devotion......Whereas many homeless people have made their own decisions in life....(i know that is a generalization and many are mentally ill and down on their luck).....I just do not see what one has to do with the other....
to be honest if anyone harmed my dog i would at the least mame that person....Their are also studies that have been done that link criminal activity to animal cruelty as a child....
Anytime a living creature is hurt or starved that is a problem....

I agree with Weazel and Tony. Pets are at our mercy to feed them and take care of them properly. It is our responsibility as a humane society. There is no excuse for abusing an animal....
