Insomnia

    Who else has it? I work at least 10 hours a day as a manager of 25 people. start at 6 or 7 oclock in the morning and very rarely leave before 6:00. I know this thread may be useless but what do some of you that have been doing this for years do to cure it. Drinking heavily is not an option...been trying that for years. Just thought I may get a good remedy....from someone.

      Maybe a Tylenol PM or two. I also have trouble getting my brain to "shut down." And it only gets worse when I turn the TV off. I like to put something like ESPN on in the backgound and try to fall asleep that way.

        I've been working from 6 am till about 10 pm every night since the hurricane and I am sometimes too wound up to sleep. I take a tylenol pm and let the tv watch me fall asleep.

            Someone gave me one of those cds with that light background type music that helps, this particular cd also has you do some breathing exercises and tensing and relaxing your muscles to help ease the tension you placed on your body all day, suprisingly it works!

              Ambien is commonly prescribed for this type of problem as I believe there are other drugs too.

                    Find some time to get some physical activity during the day, if possible....not within a couple of hours of bedtime, though.

                      also Valerian is an herbal alternative sleep aid.

                        When I don't drink, I have a hard time going to sleep. Drinking will usually put me to sleep right when I hit the pillow. I don't like using NyQuil, or Tylenol PM cause it makes me not want to get out of bed in the morning.

                          Suffered with it for years when I was younger .. I blamed it on too many irons in the fire ... Never took anything for it ... not saying I should not have ... Make sure you are tired when you go to bed ... and do not take naps

                              Go see a doc. You can become very dependent on those sleeping pills. I had a slight case of insomia when I graduated college and found my first real job. For me, I couldnt stay asleep. I would fall asleep around 10 but I would keep waking up every other hour. It was stress that caused my insomnia... after 3 months I was fine.
