Can France win their group? and if so, how??

Yes they can...but the answer is a bit complicated depending on what they do.


If France wins by 2 goals, they advance no matter what the Swiss and Korea do.

However, France wins by one goal, the Swiss and Korea would need to draw, and the lower the score the better. A 0-0 draw would be perfect for france based on the goal difference.


I "THINK" that's the answer. I'm still trying to get more detailed info.

Switz and Korea each have 4 points........
France has 2

Switz/Korea play each other.......
if they tie, they each get 1 point, thus they both would have 5 pts.........

France wins, they get 3 points, thus they would also have 5 pts.........

Then they go to goal differential.........

Switz is +1, Korea is also +1...France has 1 goal for, and 1 against...........thus they are dead even.........

IF Korea and Switz tie, no change in goal differential = +1......

If France wins say 2-0, by 2, then they get the 3 points and increase their goal differential to +2....thus France would advance.................

I don't know how in the hell they would choose 2nd team....I guess head to head........kapt

PS---If France wins by 2 goals, then they would advance with the winner of the Korea/Switz game....then the loser of that game would be out..........

Regardless----France has to win by 2 to do it.........kapt
