Brewers and Under yesterday. Davis goes 7 innings, gives up 3 hits and no runs, but gets pulled and the pen blows it. Still went well under, so no harm done. Tuesday's play:
Baseball Play of the Day (35-36, +2.37*)
Kansas City Royals -103 (Redman/Wells)
You may ask yourself, "Has he lost his mind?" If I lose this play, I will certainly feel like a moron - there's no other way to say it. The Royals are laying odds for the first time all season, and I'm playing them. But...
It's hard to see why the Royals are less than -120 here. They have actually owned RHP at home, going 9-11 (as opposed to 10-38 in other games) and scoring 5.2 rpg.
The Pirates continue to not hit LHP on the road. They are 0-8 on the road at night against LHSP (3.0 rpg), and 2-11 (3.1 rpg) on the road against LHSP overall.
Kip Wells is a blowbag, and he's coming off the DL, which means less innings. In other words, more innings for that sorry Pirate bullpen.
It's not likely that Redman will be confused with Cy Young any time soon, but he will work deepr into the game, and he is left-handed. KC's laying odds for a reason - they win Game 1 here.
Annihilation of the night - Indians vs. Cubs
Barrett's suspension begins, Maddux has been dreadful lately and especially on the road. Lee has been solid lately, and besides Ramirez, every decent hitter in the Cubs lineup is left-handed.
So, I'll go with an Indians/Mavericks ML parlay, which pays around +110.
