Miami scored 80,85 points in two losses at Dallas, has now put up 98-98-101 points in home wins, so key is complimentary Heat players (Payton, Haslem, Posey, Williams) making open shots that Mavericks are going to give them when they double down on Shaq. Home side is 5-0 in series (3-2 vs spread) under is 3-2. Dallas is 2-1 when games stay under, 0-2 when they go over. In this game, much will be made of officiating. Mavericks get key sub Stackhouse back. Other Miami players can't shoot 11-24 at foul line (Wade was 21-25 in Game 5) and expect to win. Heat is also not getting 49 free throws on road, so they'll need for Shaq to get off early, then hit jumpers they'll get from doubleteams. Common wisdom is going to side heavily with Dallas in this one

      Six-Pack for Tuesday
-- One thing I hope is that the people in Hartford got some satisfaction from Carolina's winning the Stanley Cup. The Whalers left Hartford for Raleigh nine years ago, but as we said the other day, Whalers' Fan Club still has 65 members.
-- Giants' Matt Cain had no-hitter broken up with two out in 8th inning Monday, as Figgins lined clean single to center, saving Felipe Alou tough choice of whether to send Cain out for 9th inning; he threw 131 pitches, high pitch count.
-- Last Giants' no-hitter? John Montefusco in Atlanta thirty years ago. Attendance on that Wednesday night in the last week of a dreadful Braves' season? 1,369, yes, 1,369 fans.
-- Light-hitting Johnnie Lemaster had double, triple, 3 RBI in that game; Bobby Murcer was Giants' cleanup hitter, and I was a 165-pound senior in high school. Long time ago.
-- Tigers won another close game Monday; as strong as the pitching is in Motown, Detroit ain't going anywhere.
-- One thing the NHL has going for it is Mike Emrick, very much the best of all the network play-by-play men; better than Joe Buck on baseball, Mike Breen on NBA or anyone that does NFL games. He is enthusiastic, passionate and he knows his stuff. A pleasure to listen to.

Tuesday's List of 13: Catching up on a quiet summer night
        13) Shouldn't Phil Mickelson get a pass from the media for Sunday's debacle, since had won three of his previous nine majors? Does he have to win every tournament?

        12) I can see ripping Colin Montgomerie, who is now 0-58 in majors and has done it unpleasantly, but is the only way to avoid getting shredded by the media to win every time you tee it up? Does someone choke every time they lose a close contest? I'm just wondering here.

        11) I write this more than I'd like to, but the NBA is, by far, the worst officiated sport. There are WWE matches officiated lot better than some of these games.

        10) Dallas made 21-25 from the foul line Sunday night. So did Dwyane Wade. Rest of the Heat was 11-24.

        9) That said, Dallas needs to flush the last three games and get down to the business of saving their season. They still hold the home court edge, after all.

        8) World Series of Poker starts next week; six-week gambling extravaganza climaxes with the Main Event ($10,000 buy-in) which starts July 28, and will apparently be capped at 8,000 entrants. Unbelievable how poker has taken off.

        7) World Poker Tour commentator Mike Sexton went to Ohio State on a gymnastics scholarship.

        6) To show how mainstream poker is, CBS is televising the Intercontinental Poker Championship, on Saturdays from now until July 22.

        5) Redskins' backup QB Jason Campbell, in his second NFL season, is learning his sixth new offense in his last six years as a QB. Has to be difficult for him to learn.

        4) Steeler rookie WR Santonio Holmes has already been arrested twice since the draft, putting him in the league lead in that department.

        3) The price for VIP parking at Soldier Field in Chicago for Bears' games (700 spots) has risen from $35 to $100, which doing some quick math, results in an increase of $364,000 in income for Da Bears, not counting the two preseason games.

        2) Two Father's Day notes: Sons of former big leaguers hit .238 (15-63) Sunday, and the Padres are now 8-1 in their last nine Father's Day games.

        1) Finally, a small dose of good news in a horrible offseason for Pitt hoop coach Jamie Dixon, whose 27-year old sister tragically died this spring. Aaron Gray, the vastly improved 7-foot center, is returning to the Panthers for his senior year, which makes Pitt a top 20 team, even if Dixon did also lose all his assistant coaches. It doesn't make up for losing a loved one, but at least it is good news.
