Miami scored 80,85 points in two losses at Dallas, has now put up 98 points in both home wins, so key is complimentary Heat players (Payton, Haslem, Posey, Williams) making open shots that Mavericks are going to give them when they double down on Shaq. Extra day of preparation gives Mavericks extra day to tweak its defensive rotations. Even after Game 3 loss, was sure Mavs were better team-- they still have to lose a home game in order for Miami to win series, but as far as this game goes, Dirk hasn't gotten off at all on road, Miami has ton of momentum. Home side is 4-0 in series (3-1 vs spread) with under 3-1.

      Six-Pack for Monday
-- American League teams went 8-6 vs NL Sunday, are now 29-13 since Friday.
-- If the playoffs started Monday morning, the eight teams would be Boston-White Sox-Detroit-Oakland; at 43-25, the Pale Hose would be the Wild Card. In the NL, the playoff teams would be Mets-St Louis-Cincinnati-NL West (three teams are within half a game of each other). Right now, the 37-31 Reds would the NL Wild Card, and that is why the Astros spent heavily for Roger Clemens.
-- The '04 Pistons were the only team to sweep middle three games of 2-3-2 Finals format, since it came into play in '85. Miami became the second team to do that this weekend.
-- How on God's green earth did Dallas not double Wade on the game-tying possession in regulation? By the way, will there be people in south Florida naming their kid "Dwyane" in the coming years?
-- Miami giving Wade the ball on last possession and him refusing to pass to open teammates while he dribbled for an opening, is perfect example of why NBA needs better rules If you could play any defense, he would have had to give that ball up. Being a ballhog isn't good basketball, but way the game is currently constructed, it works.
-- It will be very, very difficult for Miami to win in Dallas

Monday's List of 13: Wrapping up a busy weekend......
        13) Met announcers are starting to tout Carlos Beltran as an MVP candidate; I asked my dad, huge Met fan who watches every game, who he thought the five most valuable Mets are, and he didn't mention Beltran (Delgado-Pedro-Reyes-Wright and Loduca). So if a guy isn't in the top five on his own team, how could he be considered for MVP of the league?

        12) Speaking of Beltran, he is hitting .358 on the road, but just .213 at home.

        11) Gary and Daryle Ward and only father/son combo to both hit for the cycle in the major leagues.

        10) Miguel Tejada played in his 989th consecutive game with Sunday's game, the 7th longest streak ever; in order to catch Cal Ripken, he'll have to play every game until July, 2016.

        9) John Smoltz' granddad used to be groundskeeper at Tiger Stadium in Detroit; there is rumor that Braves might look into trading Smoltz, to give them some more younger talent.

        8) Why do the US Open courses have to be so difficult? Still am adamant that more water, and less sand, makes for better golf. Players would rather be in a bunker than in the rough, so why have so many sand traps? A winning score of +5? Yuk.

        7) I like Phil Mickelson, but it is really hard to feel bad for guy who just made $501,248, has a gorgeous wife, and has already won three majors. I admire his preparation, but in the end, his erratic driving was his undoing. Underrated by announcers is the impossible chip shot Ogilvy drained on 17th hole.

        6) They played an NBA Finals game Sunday without referee Dick Bavetta; I didn't think this was possible. Referee Bennett Salvatore, by the way, is married to daughter of former NFL defensive lineman Andy Robustelli.

        5) Charges called, by game, in first four games of NBA Finals: 1-6-7-9. James Posey drew seven charges in Games 2-5.

        4) Still think the NBA is missing the boat by not switching to international rules; it would make for a much more fun game to watch, play and coach.

        3) ABC told story Sunday of Adrian Griffin's mother going back to high school to get her diploma; not a GED, she went back to school and took classes. She called her son, the sub for the Mavericks, and asked for help with her high school algebra. He told her he didn't know anything about algebra.

Seton Hall must be so proud of one of its basketball alumni.

        2) The prejudice in the NBA against American kids who play in college stands out when you realize that Josh Howard was the last player taken in the first round of his draft. Howard is a smart kid who lists Othello as his favorite reading material, and he was also ACC Player of the Year. .

        1) In other words, Adrian Griffin's mom should have called Howard for help with her high school algebra.
