Miami looked dead as doornail in fourth quarter Tuesday, but in great comeback, kept series within reach, now need home win in this game to even series. Heat needs more from their guards and Walker, who will get open shots because Dallas has to double down on Shaq. Mavs suffered first loss with Howard scoring 20 or more points; would think this series goes seven if Miami wins this game. Still firmly believe Dallas is better team, but my only question would be, do Dallas players think they're better team?

Six-Pack for Sunday
-- American League teams went 10-4 vs NL Saturday, are now 21-7 this weekend.
-- Fireworks show in Oakland got off to late start, as Street blew 9th-inning save, game wound up going 17 innings, before A's won, 5-4, on Crosby bases-loaded walk in 17th.
-- Kris Benson is first Oriole pitcher to hit home run since a guy named Roric Harrison hit one, before DH existed in '72.
-- If you like to bet turf races at Saratoga this summer, look inside. Of the 44 races run on the turf last year at Saratoga where their were at least 10 starters, post position 10 was 2 for 44, post position 11 was 0 for 16 and post position 12 was 1 for 8. Thanks to CapperZeke for those stats.
-- Ricky Williams rushed for 97 yards in his CFL debut, as Toronto won its '06 opener, 27-17.
-- Someone upstairs likes Gary Bettman, as NHL got its 7th game in Finals for Monday, and NBC can promote it all day Sunday on US Open. After the strike, they needed some good luck, for a change.
Sunday's List of 13: Random thoughts on Father's Day
13) The Whalers left Hartford for Raleigh nine years ago, but there are still 65 members in the Hartford Whalers' Fan Club.
12) Brass Bonanza, the Whaler theme song that played after every Hartford goal, still is occasionally played at Fenway Park. Carolina might need a shot of it on Monday night.
11) Mariners, Pirates are only teams this season to use only five starting pitchers.
10) In the state of Washington, playing online poker is crime on a par with possessing child pornography. Seriously; it was in Sports Illustrated this week. Thats a little scary.
9) Mavericks scored seven points in fourth quarter Thursday, the least by one team in the history of the NBA Finals.
8) Stadium vendors must love to see the Marsh-Hernandez-Holbrook-Wendelstedt umpiring crew show up; over is 32-18 in their games, best over ratio of any crew. Crew with best under ratio is Demuth-Joyce-Eddings-Schrieber (22-17 under). Games by sub umps in those crews aren't counted. Demuth started the season late, which is why that crew's numbers are little low.
7) You think Winged Foot might be too tough this weekend? Mark Calcavecchia has 12 Tour wins, played on four Ryder Cup teams, but shot 80-78 at the US Open and missed the cut at +18. After three rounds, no one is under par. Who plays at this course next week?
6) Colorado Rockies have pioneered use of video IPods as scouting devices for their players, who have taken to the idea. Visiting players now are interested in the idea.
5) Can Devil Rays get transferred to National League? They are 5-0 vs the senior circuit this season.
4) We mentioned up above that Roric Harrison was last P to hit home run for Orioles, before Benson did Saturday; we had to look him up on baseball-reference.com, and we find that Harrison had a career mark of 30-35 in five seasons. His career batting average was just .121, but six of his 15 career hits left the yard- he hit five of the six for the Braves in '73 and '74.
3) Harrison was traded five times in his career, and was one of players Astros traded to Seattle for Jim Bouton during 1969 season, while Bouton was writing Ball Four. He was also, at one time or another, traded for Blue Moon Odom, Marcellino Lopez, Harry Parker, and Earl Williams. He did lot of moving.
2) James Dungy's passing last fall was a great tragedy, but because Tony Dungy's family donated James' organs, two people can now see, thanks to James' healthy corneas. At least something good came out of that horrible tragedy.
1) Happy Father's Day to all fathers, especially mine, Bernie, who is especially enjoying this baseball season, because his beloved Mets look like a lock for the playoffs.
