Looks like we could have a dandy on our hands.....2 great fighters...the up and comer jermain taylor who has a lot of pop and many think he could be one of the greats....in his 2 hopkins fights i was less than impressed....I thought hopkins won the 1st fight and the 2nd was a draw.....Both were ugly fights, hopkins going defensive the first 6-7 rounds and then dominating the last 5 rounds...but too little too late....
now winky on the other hand is the consumate professional.....a great defensive fighter who does not get hit much....keeps his hands real high and is a relentless jabber.....actually both fighters have stinging jabs and whoever can land that accurately will control this fight.....Everything for both fighters opens up off the jab, unlike hopkins who is generally (and he did against taylor) a counterpuncher.....
I took Winky at +140...now +120.....I see it being real close and going to the cards......
I loved Winky against trinidad and he took him to school...Everyone said that Winky could not handle titos power and it was very lopsided 120-107, 119-108, 119-108...Which is a virtual shutout...a rarity in such a high profile matchup....Another scary stat from that fight was Trinidad only connected 58 times (43 power shots).....and Wright connected in double digits EVERY round.....(262 connections)....
In summation Winky boxed his ears off and Trinidad is no joke.....I use that as a barometer against a power puncher.....
I see Winky outjabbing Taylor and then frustrating him with his defensive style....I also seeing Taylor trying to put his foot on the gas early and maybe gassing out (twice vs hopkins)....I think Wright is the smarter and more polished of the 2 and that is where my money is...JMHO
