  • A lesson about discipline

I know we all do it, but maybe if we preach this enough I will listen.

Started off great tonite: 4-1 on my early games.

But, since I have no discipline, I took 3 late games and went 0-3. Down a few bucks for the day now.

Let this be a lesson that I know I need to learn better and I'm sure lots of us on the board need.

    DISCIPLINE Is THE KEY!!!!

    also: I AM AN IDIOT!

I swept the late games and needed it. I put in ALL my bets BEFORE 7 PM. If i didn't like a 10:30 game at 6:30, i'm not going to play it just to play it at 10:00.

i think this post says it all....bets should be made because you like the play....not on the situation that you are in....

easier said than done Wayne.......Ive pretty much quit altogether for that reason that Molta just said........I would get stuck watching games and become an action junkie

now I just play a game here and there and I try to play 24 hours in advance and I try and stay away from chat boards in the early evenings otherwise I would just tailing and its a slippery slope

tough molta but I 100% agree with what you say and if anyone says they dont do that is lying.....

              PEACE

thanks guys. discipline can be tough, and lots easier said then done, but I'm working on it. very easy to fall into the action junkie category, which i battle all the time

Not really. It's all about self control. Some have it, some don't. Some can quit smoking, some can't. Some can be happy with drinking 2 beers, others don't know when to stop. Some people eat bad foods, others can keep a healthy diet.

It's as simple as you make it and molta pretty much admitted he lost "Control" a little tonight. It happens and we've all done it but the older i get the more control i have.

Like I said wayne, I'm working on it. Being around the board has actually helped me alot with money management/discipline. I have gotten MUCH better at both. Before playing the late games, I didn't ask myself "do I like these as much as the games that I capped this AM and went 4-1 on? Or do I like this as much as I liked the Heat last nite?" and of course the answer is no.

I just slipped up a little tonite, and it made me realize once again that you can be the best capper out there and lose money if discipline isn't part of your strategy.

I've had MELTDOWNS here plenty of times where my huge parlay loses the 1st half and i come back with a huge RL play on the 2nd half of it to get it back. I get burned every time. I don't chase parlays anymore. If i lose one half like tonight with houston, i don't chase the 2nd half at 10:00 (Oakland). Tonight, it would have worked out but about 5 other times this week, i would have lost again with part 2.

I can call my guy 24/7 and put it in his phone system but i refuse to call after my initials bets are placed. I just ride out what i have. It has really saved me this year and i play alot of games anyway.

Molta, one of my golden rules with sports betting is I make all my wagers at the same time. After I make all my bets I never bet another game or bet more on a game. I'm done for the day. Regardless of the early action.

                          BET IT AND FORGET IT
